After a hectic 3 months away, culminating in an extremely difficult two weeks trying to get enough data out of the various sources needed to keep the project on (the revised) schedule I am totally wound down and ready to relax for a week and a half and let others worry for a while.
So here I am sat in the KAL prestige lounge at Incheon (Seoul) thanks to Priority pass, drinking the free beer and relaxing.
But it wasn't without incident.
After arriving home from my wind down day at work, I got a call from my dad in the UK. 'Can you call Virgin Urgently'
Oh B****r thought I! My travel plans are a little intricate. Relying on the 24hr visa free transit at Shanghai to meet MrsPVG and both fly back to Heathrow together, from where we are spending a couple of days in London before heading off to see my parents and relax on a canal boat for the rest of the week.
If there is a problem with my flight, and i don't have a Chinese visa then it could get complicated.
But after a worrying wait to get through to Premier Team (0800) thanks to Skype! I was reassured that the only problem was that my Incheon-Shanghai leg had been delayed two hours. No issue since I was overnighting in Shanghai before catching VS251. Just means I can still arrive at the time I planned and drink more beer!
In previous TR's when Ive flown around Asia I'm always quick to complement the efficiency of the airports, and again today Incheon was no different.
Airport bus directly from my front door in central Seoul.
A near queue-less Asiana check-in.
An exceedingly apologetic check-in girl, about the delay.
The usual efficient checked baggage security screen questioning why I have so many cans of spray in my was bag.
Queueless security and queueless immigration.
Why cant the rest of the world be like this?
Even the KAL (Priority Pass) Lounge I am currently in as an oasis of tranquility, overlooking the apron, serving good beer, good snack food and free internet.
In the nine months Ive been in Korea so far, there is a lot I dont like about the place, but boy do they know how to build an efficient airport.
30 mins to boarding now. Next stop PVG!
