I will update with more as I have time to write.

The flight was awesome, it was fantastic, it is so different from any domestic airline. And I would say the coach seats are vastly superior any coach seats I've ever sat in. Very comfy.

Thanks for the early report, photos and other links, have read and viewed avidly! Can't wait now for your full report.

One question, was the flight full, obviously there was a lot more activity in aisle (more of a party flight) than normal but there appears to be a few unused seats?

Both of the flights had around 100 people of them, with first class being used as a lounge area. They wanted everyone to have a free seat next to them.

The Y seats appear to be Recaro CL3510s, these are the same seat used Air New Zealand in Y on their 744 and 777 fleets. They are the longer range version of the BL3510, used by Swiss in their A32x fleets.

The new Lufthansa short-haul seats are a custom derivative of the BV3510 (the 'convertible' version of the BL3510).

They are designed to give plenty of leg stretching room, and like the new VS Economy seats, the hinge in the backrest is higher up, so that the seat doesn't recline into the knees of the person behind.

The F seats appear to be Recaro CL4420.

Mike the seat god [oo] and I do mean that in a good way.

So are these things comfortable..thats the main question on my mind..comfy seat and Doom..I am set for a flight..all I need is some coke zero and a bag of laysand I am a happy little Scrooge [y]

Nope - we've now given other Virgin Group airlines their own special Trip Report forum - right here!

For future reference, all Virgin Blue, Nigeria, America, etc. Trip Reports should be placed here - away from the Virgin Atlantic ratings area. [y]

Depends on the specification of the seatcovering the airline puts on.

I find the Swiss ones a bit tough on the old derriere after about 2.5 hours, but they are only fitted like that to the short haul (European fleet), and they lack an adjustable headrest.

From appearance, the VX seats seem to have similar seat padding to the ANZ seats (apart from VX using leather, whereas ANZ use some breatheable cloth). If it is the same, it's nice seating, plenty of memory foam. Remember, the ANZ version of the seat is geared up to support 12-13 hour sectors. [;)]
