V-Flyer

This trip was to do a cruise around the Med and the leaving point was Barcelona.

We arrived at Terminal 1 at around 3.00pm for our 6.15pm flight to BCN and I have to say what a difference to T3. The check in process was completely painless and we walked through BAs security channel with absolutely no queues or fuss at all.

In the terminal all was quiet with no real crowds, so we settled down with a beer and a snack before doing a tour of the shops. Within no time at all we were called to the gate and after a very long walk we arrived at the plane, a 757. I haven't been on one of these for years.

Getting on board and into our seats (row 14) 2 things struck me. First how much leg room we had and second how scruffy and worn out the seat pockets etc. were. I guess this is as a result of lots of short haul journeys but it didn't look very good. Even so the seats were comfortable and as I said we had plenty of room.

The crew were very efficient and attentive serving a sandwich and tea, coffee etc. during the very short flight. This was another surprise having not done a short haul flight for a number of years we were preparing to land at Barcelona within 2 hours of leaving London and I hadn't even got my PSP out yet to play some games.

The landing was very smooth and that was it we had arrived. After quite a long walk to immigration and an even longer walk to the baggage hall we cleared customs and jumped into a taxi to our hotel.

Overall the flight was very good as was the service. The bonus was we found out from some of our fellow cruisers that we had actually paid less for our BA tickets than they had for Easy Jet from LGW. Now that did put a smile on my face.

Thanks. You know, BA really can be quite good short haul. Crews IMO are generally very good, they put in some effort and are charming and cheerful. I soooooooooo hope BA doesn't go the way of AA!
