V-Flyer

Aircraft was a 767-300 and this destination is classed as mid haul at 6 hours so benefits from eaysjet standard legroom with possibly narrower seat width. Configuration is 2-4-2. We had the middle 4 on the outward leg. Seats are very cramped for anyone over average height and weight. Thomas cook airlines use A330s for their longer flights and these have 33' seat pitch. Flights went on time and crew were very good showing a friendly/happy presence throughout.We did not select the meal option but you could buy snacks and a 'snack pack' that consisted of cheese and pate with crackers and other bits. Having decide that this sounded good enough to try, they then decided they did not have any on board even though they were advertised over the PA system.
On our return flight we decided to upgrade the legroom at the airport
for a cost of E528 (7/ sterling) per couple. This gave us a bulkhead seat with marginal legroom improvement and same poor seat width.
Questionaires/surveys were handed around the flight with the chance to win a 2000 holiday voucher. I added to the comments section that this flight should be classed as long haul with extra leg room and that the seating is not acceptable. How much this will matter to Thomas Cook is debatable as the flight was full (326 pass.).
We bought meals on the way back (6.50 pp)which consisted of sausage and mash plus sticky toffee pudding, cheese crackers, juice etc. The sausage and mash compared very well with the Upper Class sausage and mash I had on a MAN/MCO flight. Flight left 10 minutes early and the aircraft was very clean with crew the same as outward leg. Thomas Cook Airlines could be very good if they improve their customer comfort.
