We are back at last! Were due to travel with BA but that was cancelled and the earliest flight available albeit a week late, was with EasyJet. My first ever experience and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. We were dropped off at the airport about an hour and half before departure. The flight was at 22.55pm. Hardly anyone waiting at check in, in fact they opened another desk as soon as our group arrived. Our cases were within the 20kg limit and they didn't check our hand luggage. Next passport control - 30 secs, then security and hand baggage check. I forgot I still had a bottle of water in my bag, but they missed that, I think because I yanked by bag off quickly as it went through, the two people after me had their bags searched for the water bottle but of course they didn't have any and it caused no end of confusion for the officials :|
Terminal was crowded by the time we went through, a few shops to check out but far too expensive to bother with. Within a short time, everyone got up and rushed to the boarding area, we followed suit, not knowing what to expect. We were told that as seats are not allocated at check in, it was basically a free for all when you got on the plane, unless you had purchased exit rows etc. As hubby and I wanted aisle seats. we found 2 empty rows adjacent to each other and made ourselves comfortable. The plane filled up fairly quickly, not totally full which was surprising given the fact that people were/had been stranded for a few days. We were fortunate that no one sat next to us so we had 3 seats each and were able to put our feet up! Bought a hot chocolate which was good and dozed on and off for the 4 hour journey. Was rudely awakened by two women 3 rows back, complaining about seat kicking. Dear oh dear, that went on for about 20 mins, the cabin crew had a job calming them down!
We touched down on time and were in our car within an hour. Fortunately, the south terminal long stay car park were not charging any excess over what we had booked so that was good. All in all, not a bad flight.

Glad to see you got back ok. Flown with them a few times and they've been great and a good price. What were your expectations, pre flight, of easyjet?

Having read horror stories in the newspapers and heard personal accounts from friends and collegues who have flown with EasyJet, I was expecting the worst I suppose. The main issues were with seating arrangements, charging for extras and not being able to get on the flight they were booked for and flight cancellations/detours. None of which I am glad to say happend to us. I think we were lucky because Bodrum airport is quite small and not many planes fly in or take off, ie. EasyJet, one flight every other day, so no delays in taking off.

Glad that you made it back home safe. I guess after so long into an extended stay you are just keen to get home and some of the niceties that we usually regard with some importance, like allocated seating are just not as important as the end goal.

I guess that there are millions of people who happily fly Easyjet / Ryanair etc and have no complaints about the price (even allowing for add ons) or service etc

So the stories that reach the papers are the really bad customer experiences. A small number of those are really down to difefrent expectations of what a pax should have got but most do seam to to have a case for refunds / compensation etc.

Incidently, how were BA in trying to get you home?

Anyway glad you made it home.!

I have flown Easyjet and Ryanair a couple of times for rugby tours and stag do's y) I must say I have been extremely impressed with Sleazyjet but significantly less so with Ryanair n( n( .....it could just be that I despise Mr O'Leary (sorry). It appears that anyone who does not agree with his opinion is an idiot - FACT.

I would like to think that I am considered an idiot because of my actions and my deeds and not because of your opinion Mr O'Leary!....Don't get me started.. :(! :(!

HighFlyer -
That is so true. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our 'extended' stay - the best tan ever, we did miss several important commitments and a friend's funeral! Having flown UC a few times now, we have got used to the 'niceties' and enjoy our comforts much more now. But, 'needs must' so we adapt.

Tonytbear -
BA sent a text to my IPhone saying that my flight was cancelled. No other messages. However, the business company that flew us out were responsible for our flights and hotel stay so they took care of everything for us.
