Posted: 14 Jul 2010, 08:30Quick wander round the pre-immigration post-security area and then headed to the lounge (post-immigration) to relax. Several glasses of cava later it was time to leave. Unfortunately we had been changed from an Embraer 190 Jet to an Avro-RJ series. This arrived late, but was almost boarded by the time it was called. Once on board, the captain explained that there was a small delay as the refueller hadn't replaced the cap. Then he came back to say we had a slightly bigger problem (start wishing we had taken the earlier flight!). The airline was not supposed to send an Avro jet again to BCN, and so the ground agents had got rid of the tow bar and so we couldn't be pushed back! The were trying to find one from another airline but if that was not possible then we were stuck!! Lots of moaning about missing the football from around us. Fortunately they managed to 'borrow' one, so we were only about an hour late leaving.
Flight itself was good - crew were very attentive and kept replacing drinks even when not asked. This was an 'afternoon' service originally, so it was afternoon tea - always feel robbed with this but the good thing is the scones were huge!!
Arrived at LCY and taxied to gate..........to be told the ground staff were not expecting us and therefore no dispatcher had been sent and so were could not disembark! Another 20 minute delay before it was finally sorted. Unfortunately priority tagging worked well - my bag was the last off!!
The flight was very good itself but a comedy of errors surrounding it!
