My two days in Dubrovnik were up having visited the old town and taken in a trip to some of the nearby islands.

Got a taxi to the airport, costing 30 Euros for the 25km trip arriving just before 9am for the 11.15am flight. The terminal was very quiet and check-in had not actually begun, but did so about 10 minutes later.

Image

Once through with check-in, we proceeded airside and the security screening which took place in the corridor linking the check-in area with duty free. Lots of people were being made to go through the scanner multiple times due to setting of the alarm (belts, etc...) but again shoes did not have to be removed.

In the departure area, there were a couple of shops and cafes which were mildly distracting, but were no match for the view out onto the tarmac.

Image

Boarding was stated to commence at 10.45 and as it approached a steady queue of people formed by the gate, oblivious to the fact that the plane had yet to land. Eventually it did at 10.55 and we watched it come up to the terminal building.

Image

The turnaround was impressively quick and boarding was announced at 11.10, by which time the queue of people was snaking along half the length of the terminal. We walked out onto the tarmac and onto the plane which was nowhere near as full as the outbound and with all onboard we took off 30 minutes late at 11.45 with the flight time being 2 and a half hours. Prior to the drinks/duty free service, the flight attendants came round offering O2 pay and go sim cards for anyone who wanted them with the offer of 100 free international minutes with a £15 top up – don’t think anyone took up the offer and not really sure how much O2 make from this. The rest of the flight passed as uneventfully as the outbound and we landed at Luton at 1.10, 5 minutes early. However, we then went on a tour of Luton airport, circling round one and a half times before coming to our stand – not sure if we missed the turning on our way round the first time. The captain had earlier announced that the temperature in Luton was 18°C, but stepping out onto the tarmac, it was most definitely not, but it soon warmed up on the journey home.

All in all, for £80 return, it wasn’t horrific and was more than acceptable. For a relatively short flight, I didn’t need the extras and I didn’t have any complaints. Would I use Wizz Air again – as I’m about to join the working masses my perceptions might change, but if the price was right, I can’t see why not.

Thanks for the TR, I was interested to hear about Wizz Air as I have heard from my son that his friends prefer it over other low cost airlines.

Thanks for the TR and the pictures. It's always good to have a review of another LCC, as like it or not they are sometimes the only way to get where you want to go!

I have to admit that I hold an opinion of LTN that mirrors others' views of STN. For me, it's a pain in the a*se to get to and from, the security shed is horrible (and you have to pay for you plastic bags) and the gate organisation is awful. Shopping area's not bad though :)
