143 JFK-TPA 8 APR 11 (ELR)

Travelled from the Fairfield Inn in Jamaica, NY Which had been my base for my very brief stay at JFK. The hotel is actually very good and found it a good base.

The complimentary shuttle from the hotel took me directly to Terminal 5 where I was greeted by two very helpful and smiling check in agents (they were very amused by my v-flyer luggage tags)- we chatted about why I was going to Tampa and how they both needed a scotch after a busy morning - the time was just before 11am for my 145pm flight. A great start to my first Jet blue experience.

We said out goodbyes and I joined a very long line at security which took about 30mins for me to get through to the other side.

Terminal 5 is spacious with lots of seating, the free wifi came in handy too. Boarding commenced at 115pm and I was seated in 2A in the ELR section (extra legroom seat) - this allowed me to board first and grab some space in the overheard lockers.

We pushed back at 150pm and were airborne at 210pm, a flight time of 2hrs24mins was promised and the crew were jolly and friendly throughout.

Headphones were offered for sale for $2 but my ipod one's worked just fine. Followed were the meal boxes for $5.99 which I don't think anyone did buy but they looked quite good, so maybe next time.

Complimentary beverages (full cans) and a range of snacks were offered, little bottles of water were also offered.

The entertainment was through direct TV and had 36 channels available along with radio stations - some movies were also on offer at $5.99 a go but I stuck with the news and some music.

The seats offered 38inches of legroom and were roomy - a good flight down to Tampa with an arrival at 430pm, a little ahead of schedule. A friendly crew who told a few jokes over the PA system - very refreshing indeed. Arrived to temperatures of the high 80s - how lovely!!

Thanks for the TR; we're flying JFK - MCO with JB in a few weeks, also booked ELR seats.
What's terminal 5 like for eating? We're going to try to get. Late lunch/early dinner.
Thanks

Sounds like a great flight!

I love how it seems all US domestic carriers offer headphones for $2 - definitely the case on AA, VX, DL and now jetblue - perhaps a standardised cost!

I'm sure the warm Florida air was a welcome result too!

Have a great trip.

JetBlue, the free wifi in T5 and their extra legroom seats are just great! :)

Did you try the blue crisps?

The terminal offered a dunkin donuts, a couple of sports type grill places and a few sandwich/snack places. I have to say was very impressed with T5, very spacious and though busy lots of seats at all times.

The extra legroom seats are great and really liked Jetblue - the staff were friendly and funny - good holiday combinations!

Didn't try the blue crisps, did see them and they looked interesting - stuck with the munchies!!

So already enjoying the Florida sunshine, having a beach day today and heading down to Cinebistro tonight to catch "Arthur" .

Flabound - thanks for the link - looks like there's plenty to eat! (Should've guessed - we are talking about an American airport!)

Mrs Monster is going to try to not eat on the flight from LHR - a tip to avoid feeling rough upon arrival. I suspect I'll end up eating her meal on the plane and mine. (Although I'd put serious money on her not giving up the Gu pudding if its offered!).

Thanks again.
