HA136 HNL-OGG 20 OCT 11 (Y)

They were calling for standowns as the flight was way oversold (with a large wedding party on standby) and offering $100 credit against future HA travel to take the next flight in 40 mins. If it had been cash we'd have offered but given thet we're unlikely to use HA in the near future we didn't bother.
Boarding called with 1st and elites first and then general boarding. We were back in 25 A and B so boarded promptly as we knew onerhead space was going to be tight having again seen what our fellow passengers were carrying

Several people must have stood down as some of the wedding party boarded (moaning they were in random seats) the doors were shut and we were on our way.
Our little 717 seemed tiny after the Airbus we'd had on the way to HNL and looked as if it had had a hard life (I forget these aircraft are not that old really) and we had a sort of safety briefing as we scooted down the runway for takeoff.
Given we were one row from the back it was VERY noisy but at least we had a semi-window view (the engine obstructed half of it). The last row behind us was virtually in darkness and had no window at all.
Once up in the air the FA handed out a carton of juice and no sooner had they been drunk than she was collecting the empties as we were soon to be descending into OGG.
We landed without incident and were off the plane and in the terminal 10 minutes after landing.
I did wonder if the witch at LAS had tagged the bags through but I need not have worried and they were already on the carousel as we got to reclaim.
A swift exit and onto the shuttle to Dollar where Express once again worked well and an upgrade for free to a full size SUV from a full size car was the offering and within another 10 minutes we were heading for Kaanapali
