Arrived at JFK for the 07.10 to SXM. Pleasantly surprised how organised and easy check-in was. Purchased a couple of breakfast muesli bars and yogurts for the flight and we were off to the lounge ready for boarding. Astonished to find not one vacant seat on the flight…and boy, some people seriously carry an enormous amount of hand luggage! Randy, our Captain :o) was a bit of a comedian and had the passengers in stitches!! As bad weather was closing in on NY he wanted to leave as soon as possible and because of this was hoping to join some of the passengers for cocktails on the beach and not have to fly back! Two drink rounds, plus you could order and purchase food, which was not very appetizing, hence the breakfast bars etc. Easy, uneventful flight with good CC.

Always a bit hair-raising flying in, but once down, everyone clapped and cheered and couldn't wait to get off.

Now for the worst flight of my life…… :0 :0 :$

Mr S and I made a mad dash for immigration, collect luggage etc. as we only had 45 minutes or so to check-in go through security (always horrendous) for our final flight…. Needless to say we made it in record time.... straight onto the bus for a very short ride and boarded our 19 seater Winair flight to St Barths. Again, pretty full flight, which only takes around 10 minutes. The flight over has never troubled me in the past and the views are spectacular, plus, you never seem to be too far from the ocean if one had to bail out!!! BUT, as we were coming into land we seemed to have got caught in a cross wind and the plane really started to tilt, both pilots were trying to steady it out ….women were screaming (myself included :| ), but the pilots knew exactly what they were doing and managed to land safely albeit with a bump, still going incredibly fast down the runway (which is tiny!), finally coming to a halt inches from the sand. We all disembarked rather shaky and exhausted, but not without giving our two pilots a huge round of applause and much gratitude! Our return journey to SXM was uneventful …..thank goodness! oo)
