After the most amazing time visiting Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart with our Australian friends AKA “The Too Much Fun Club” it was time to go home and plan for the next trip. I had confirmed the pick up with the Car Service the day before for 0330 hrs. This sounds far too early but we couldn’t resist booking the 0600 flight which arrives in DBX in time for the EK05, meaning we get back to LHR 2005 hrs the same day.

Check in was perfect (no need for violence at all) and as the queues were short we were quickly heading towards the EK lounge. By this time I wasn’t expecting a CH so settled down with a cup of coffee and waited for the call to board.

Boarding was on time and again I was shown to my Suite (3K) and offered all the usual drinks etc. I believe EK issue Amenity kits if the flight is a night flight or over 8 hours.
This being a 14 hours day flight we qualified for the bag of goodies.

On a long flight like this the Suite really does come into its own. The sheer comfort and attentive service makes long haul seem like a trip on the Northern Line. Food and wine were exceptionally good and varied with each flight.

We landed in Concourse B and our final flight was also from B so we headed straight to the B First Class lounge. This is a smaller Lounge but the one we stayed in on the way over but again offers restaurant waiter service and complimentary treatments at the Sixth Sense Spa. This lounge is busier and has more life and on balance we preferred it. We also went into the Business Lounge which is busier but has everything you need for a relaxing stop over. There is a small fee for the Spa treatments and the food is buffet but looked very tasty.

Another great flight, food and drink excellent, crew super efficient and still in love with the shower. y)

Exactly. I have only ever been served food and wine on the outer parts of the Met line. :)

4 great TR's and a great description of EK's 1st class service.

Trip reports, long or short are one of the best parts of v-flyer :)

Thank you

David

For all you EK converts it is worth noting that with a First Class BP EK passengers can access the QF First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne - EK don't tell you this but it is clearly stated on the QF website.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with the EK Lounges the QF First Lounge is a step up.

We just did MEL-AKL on EK406, ticket bought from EK and Skywards points upgrade to F, and we were welcomed to QF F lounge, they even made departure calls from this Lounge.

I was really looking forward to visiting the QF lounge in SYD but unfortunately given the early 0600 flight time it opened just after we boarded :(
