KL1020 LHR-AMS 9 APR 14 (ECONOMY)

This was the first flight of a trip to NY via AMS to save a bit of money and to get me in to upper.
After spending just over an hour in the view heathrow 'lounge' (glass box on the roof of T4) it was time to board a Fokker 70 sat below waiting to fly to AMS.
This was my first flight on a Fokker and I have to say that I definitely prefer an airbus!
Due to the size of the aircraft KLM were spot on in not allowing anything larger than a backpack to be carried on to the plane (unless business class) so as to keep boarding speedy.
All wheeled cases were placed in to the hold and on arrival in to AMS were lined up at the bottom of the aircraft steps ^)

Takeoff was from the northern runway and so there was a bit of time spent parked across from the south runway waiting to cross and then we joined the LHR queue system for 10 mins before taking off towards the M25.

The flight was smooth with a friendly crew speaking in Dutch and English.
40 mins later we were on final approach to AMS.

We parked at a remote stand but a bus was waiting for us and a minimal wait to get through passport control.

All in all another great flight from AF/KL.

Now for my next sector I am currently sat in the BA lounge waiting for BA423 to take me to the clubhouse @LHR.

I will follow your progress with interest as it is a possibility for me (sans Mrs Buns) to gather much needed Tier Points

Sounds like a solid start to NYC trip chris ,I'm not around on here much today so have a great time in the clubhouse and even more so enjoy your first UC flight to the max

Well that will teach me for booking with the AMS trick.
I boarded BA423 and pushed back at 7am...
I am now back in the BA lounge at AMS as a flap problem on G-EUPL could not be fixed. Now booked on to BA429 due at LHR at 10:20.

Now a question for you.
I was due in to LHR at 7:15 but as the flight boarded moved and then got canceled I am now re-booked on a flight arriving at 10;20 as this is over 3 hours later than planned do I have a case for some money back??
I am never sure how EU125 works with re-booking??

If you're offered a cooked breakfast on the BA flight, don't touch it! :$ I had one on BA423 and was violently ill on my flight to SFO as a result!

I remember reading that. In one of your amazing trip reports.
I am not planning on eating on the BA flight as I have suffered the same fate in the past.

Interesting point - I'd have thought no, provided you arrive at your final destination on time.

Glad it's not just me wondering that.
The new flight was late as well so total delay 4hrs 5 mins 50 mins of that on the new flight.

Ah but unless your VS flight into JFK is late, you haven't been delayed!

I'd have thought it's the time you reach the final destination on your ticket that counts. Had the LHR-AMS sector been on a separate PNR, you'd have a case.
