Well the time had come for us to move on. Having seen how small the aircraft used on these routes was, I was really dreading this flight. We had an ATR 42 with 48 seats.

Having only found out the day before that St Lucia has 2 airports and our flight did not depart from UVF, we arrived at SLU at 12.45 for a 3.15 flight. Check in didn’t open until 1.15 so we looked for the waiting room which it turned out was a few seats on the kerb side with a small kiosk. not unlike a bus shelter.

Eventually the dominos game in the rest room came to an end and check in opened, all our bags were a couple of pounds overweight, but no one seemed to mind and they were lifted away, we hoped to been seen again at BGI. Immigration wasn’t open so it was back to the bus shelter for another 45 minutes until the man opened the desk, looked at passports and waived us through a though security check where almost everything had to be taken off and placed in trays…

We redressed and made our way to the departure lounge / gate room, which was not unlike a bus. We saw aircraft arrive, quickly boarded and were off about 10 minutes early. Flight was actually really nice, very smooth and seat pitch much better than VS! Ni IFE, No refreshments provided, apart from the stewardess taking a tray of coffee through to the cockpit but not surprising with such a short flight.

Landed, interesting to see bags offloaded from next to us as we got off, processed at BGI quite quickly, arriving with the BA Gatwick service (VS flight was late!!), and easily found a taxi to take us to hotel

In summary, no frills, no IFE, no refreshments but with only 40 minutes in the air, no need, but more comfortable than VS. These little inter island flights are actually good fun...
