First flight in Emirates in the A380 as part of the first leg of a trip to Tanzania.

We were on the night flight to DXB and got through check in and security very quickly. T1 is very quiet in the evening.

We headed straight for the Emirates Lounge which is large and slightly soulless. As we were on the night flight we ate in the Lounge (which was ok but nothing special) to maximise our sleep opportunity on board.

Boarding was quick and easy straight in the upper deck. First impressions of the cabin was the amount of space. We were travelling as a family of four and had two pairs of ‘love seats’ which were great and really private. We declined food and took the mattress topper to settle down for some sleep. The beds were a good length and very comfortable.

In no time we were landing in DXB and all having slept well.

The A380 was a two class plane so the upper deck was economy at the front and business at the rear. On disembarking this was a real pain. We landed at the B gates and did not get a bridge direct to the upper deck. The meant that we could not disembark until after both the lower and upper deck economy had cleared the plane.

We had a long connection time so not a massive problem but other people with shorter connection were not happy.

Having finally got off the plane we were swiftly through security and made our way to the lounge for showers and breakfast before taking the next flight.
