Wi fi SSID's

I've been having a little fun of late with amusing SSID's for my wifi, particularly in the hibrow area I live in ;).
And having recently got a wifi PDA running some wifi logging sofware I have noticed that there are a few like minded people out there as I drive around.
My favourite at the moment is "Pete's Brothel" and "Help - hostage", but maybe that is a genuine cry for help [:?]

Anybody else get any good ones, other than "Netgear" and "Belking 54g"?

In the Chesterfield area there is a WiFi Network rejoicing in the SSID of "Keep the F*ck Out, Tw*t!" - except this guy doesn't use asterisks!

Clearly he's aware of the concept of Wardriving!

Hmmm, these people may be funny and aware of "wardriving", but they're not being the very security-conscious....one of the most basic steps you can do to protect your WLAN from hacking is to disable to SSID broadcast. On my WLAN, the SSID broadcast is disabled (it's not a funny one, but it's not the default either ;)) - I have MAC address filtering turned on, the inbuilt firewall is locked down, and there's a 128bit WEP key requirement. Not to mention that the router itself is protected by a strong password [|:)]

So, kudos to them for the hilarity, but not so many marks on the security scale :D

Reminds me of the funny 8char hex names we used to think up for IPX networks in the distant past :D

Cheers

Ahhh! 8 Character hex names, you had to be so much more creative in those days!

As for expletives in SSID's I wonder what powers exist to trace people and "advise" them that they may be offending people!

I used to amuse myself for seconds at school writing f0c0ff or 55378008 and turning the calculator upside down!
