3 have scrapped all roaming charges when using their network abroad (currently available in Republic of Ireland, Italy, Australia, Austria, Hong Kong, Swedan and Denmark).

Shame its nowhere useful like the USA. What do people recommend for use over there? I wanted to get a Pay as you go Sim card as I did in Sydney but they want about $150 or something for one!!

I use net10 when I'm in the US. You can't get a SIM card that works with your existing cellphone - however they do sell phones from as little as $30, and you get $30 of credit included. All calls - either outgoing or incoming - are 10c a minute. You can also call various international destinations for an extra 5c a min, including UK fixed lines (not mobiles though).

This caught my eye, but I think I'll be sticking with o2 for now cos I get 20 free texts a month on Pay & Go and I only got a new phone a few months back.

Hopefully the other network providers will follow suit.
