Got a letter yesterday in the post announcing that ntl and Telewest are in the process of rebranding as Virgin Media and that existing customers receiving Digital TV, Broadband and landline phone will be branded as Virgin TV, Virgin Broadband, Virgin Phone and Virgin Mobile will be absorbed into the new organisation at this point.

Unfortunately there's no change in broadband speeds for now [n] They're sticking with 2MB, 4MB and 10MB as per Blueyonder and ntl Broadband. Although good thing is that unlimited downloads is here to stay :D

Link is http://www.knowfirst.co.uk

Anyone else about to have their ntl or Telewest services absorbed into the Virgin empire?

It's no use to me as we dont have cable TV where I live. Also dont have any LLU broadband providers in my exchange either so stuck with upto 8MB BT ADSL for the moment here.

There's a bit about Virgin Media here which does mention speeds of upto 20Mb or even 50Mb (ADSL2+) [:0]

Regards

Yes - same here AND the Virgin Mobile tie in deal is very good. If you have TW/NTL service you can get a sim with 300 mins and 300 text for £10 per month.

I'm hoping for miles for my monthly payments :)

I see the Virgin Media launch is imminent. The Live Events Channel (Channel 0) which was previously home to a blue screen with the Telewest logo with text has been replaced with a black screen with the Virgin Media logo and the same text.

Not long to go now...[:w]

We're shifting over, apparently there has been a small roll out of the updated interface and software for Virgin Media cable users - some problems being reported on [url=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/]DigitalSpy[URL]. As long as they don't break TVDrive I'm happy!

My mobile contract is due for renewal in April / May so I will definitely be looking at what deals they can offer.

Rollout of Virgin Media is effective as of today.

Has anyone looked at the packages - they are *very* competitive. Still no mention of Flying Club miles though ;)

That is live from Covent Garden I think - it is being broadcast until about 7pm this evening. It is also changing the channels that broadcast it as the day progresses it think.

Careful guys!

It took me nearly 3 months to extricate myself from the clutches of ntl after I got rid of them as telephone and broadband providers. Their admin procedures are about as good as a choclate teapot.

For those of you taking the plunge and joining the rebrand, hope you have a better experience than I did :D

Interestingly one of our clients is now Virgin Media as Flextech (the TV Channel arm) is also now part of the new empire.

We've been with Telewest for 11 years (until today of course) and never had too much hassle. The new Virgin Central channel looks interesting too when it gets launched.

Don't get me wrong, 75, the TV and Broadband services were not too bad. Pity the same could be said about the (lack of) admin and customer service :)
