V-Flyer

I need your help please people. I have a Belkin F5D7231-4 Wireless G+ Router and it keeps playin up on me. What it does it tricks the modem into changing the IP Address to 192.168.2.2 (modem is a Motorola SURFboard SB5101E Cable Modem for Blueyonder 2MB) and it means I can't connect to the Internet on my desktop PC or my laptop whenever this happens.

The modem is connected to the desktop PC via the router as per the router instructions.

I find that whenever it does happen the only way to connect to the Internet is to hard wire the modem to the desktop PC directly, resulting in no involvment of the router and no wireless Internet for my laptop, and the IP Address is as normal.

I find that reinstalling the router rectifies the problem but I don't have the time for the hassle with the constant unplugging and plugging in of Ethernet cables and power leads etc. Phone calls to Telewest has advised me to ring up Belkin directly but is it really worth the hassle and is it worth just getting a new router from a different vendor?

I have had so many problems with Belkin routers I could scream, now I will only use NetGear.

I am trying to sort out my MIL system at the moment.
It is a SKY Broadband Netgear wirless/Router and due to the age of the computer and ut being upstairs and the adsl coming in downstairs, it has a USB Belkin plug in wireless connection.
the connectuion to the Netgar seems to work but it keeps dropping the internet connection and the wifi connection. Tearing my hair out with it

Phone Belkin, and eventually they will replace it FOC (lifetime warranty). I am trying to remember best time to phone them and get UK, if you get India it will take a little longer but just ask for it to be replaced.

Never had any problems getting any Belkin product replaced. You return it with number and they send you new one by return.

This is basically backing up Davids comments, with the problem you have, get it replaced. Call, ask for that and no probs!!

Totally agree with Scrooge, had loads of problems with our Belkin, eventually got them to agree it was rubbish and only use netgear now with no probs!

I have installed and then had problems with several Belkin wireless devices. As has been mentioned I would not use Belkin. If you have to use consumer wireless then in my opinion Netgear is as good as it gets.

Of course I would prefer a Cisco option wherever one existed.

Seriously though - linksys/netgear = [y] Belkin = [V][n][n][V]

Although not without its problems our Netgear router has managed to avoid having too many major problems. Although it drops the connection (as Alan said) quite a bit, this normally only takes a minute or so to fix.

LinkSys is part of Cisco.
I've got a Linksys and it really is the best router I've ever had to deal with.
Totally idiot proof setup, and never a problem with it since.
I've setup up and owned a number of Belkin's before this, and yes, they are a pain.

Glad I didn't bin my duff belkin router now.
