Since we never seem to be able to find it when someone asks, here is the link to the VS power tips page. Be careful - for some reason (wrong settings when they converted it, probably), it's a 12MB pdf file! [:0]


Now, a few things.

1) They've made it easier to find, on this page, under "ONBOARD LAPTOP - BEST IN CLASS IN-SEAT POWER SERVICE".
2) It's on "issue 2", but still doesn't include magsafe adapters.
3) (and this is the fun one), despite several reports that cabin crew are preventing people from using their own leads, that page includes this statement:

Please note for any model currently not supported passengers are invited to purchase and use onboard their own laptop leads and tips.

So there we have it - want to use your own power adapter and told it's "against policy"?

I just used my magsafe adapter on G-VFAB on 10th and 19th June. I didn't ask or anything. Nobody took issue with it. Neither was I asked about battery safety. Ironically my battery suffered from the swollen issue on my outbound flight. I did worry this might also have meant it could have exploded. The Apple Store San Francisco replaced the swollen battery without question as it's a known flaw in some shipped batteries.

Strange that it's taking Virgin so long to get a few magsafe adapters on aircraft.

Silly noobie question - what is it that this 'tip' connects to? Do they also give you a power lead that plugs into their power, and the tip is the bit on the end that is specific to your laptop? ie. you don't need any part of your own PSU...?

I've got a Vaio TX1 jobbie with a massive battery life, so usually don't need to worry about charging it in flight. But now it's on the list, I might ask for the tip/cable next flight to see if it works!
