The screen on my beloved Sony Vaio T1-XP has failed and I'm wondering how much it's going to cost to repair (replace the lcd).
Any ideas?
And, if it's not going to be an economical repair what would you lot recommend as a replacement?
Regards
John

What makes you think the LCD is defective ?
If it works fine with an external monitor, then it could be a cable fault or at worst case a panel issue.
Sometimes you can find panels reasonably priced on eBay, although choose your supplier carefully.

Because it's cracked and the black lcd "juice" is leaking around the screen. The computer still fires up but it's def a new screen required.

Have a look at Screentek replacement screen, often much cheaper than original parts. Or see if you can get a broken laptop on ebay with screen intact. I have done that in the past and paid less for the broken laptop than a replacement screen.
