My LHR>BOS flight at the end of July are still showing as being an A333, as are all my MAN flights for the rest of this year (JFK in Sept, ATL in Nov & Dec).

If America isn’t on the green list by then I can see your flights either changing to 789s or being cancelled.
I don’t think anymore A330-300s or -200s will return to service until the US is on the green list. However, they will all be flying to Dresden at some point in the next few months to receive new landing gears.

I suspect virgin would want to use every last bit of life they have left in them to shuttle the leisure travellers to their destinations (mainly mco)

I would personally be very surprised if they return to service at all. They were originally meant to be kept until around March 2022 but given the current travel limitations, I would be surprised if they weren’t retired early.

If the A330-200's were retired early what would be in their place for the MAN-MCO routes until the A350s are delivered?

It would depend on a few factors.
If flights to America are running and the loads are low then most likely A330-300s.
If flights have only just started and loads are quite low and the A333s are in the process being brought back to service then most probably the 789s.
If flights are running and the loads are high they would most probably utilise the business A350s.

As I said, it would depend on the circumstances at the time of your flight. I think you’d have more of an idea nearer the time. With your flight being in November, I would say you have got a high chance of going, but I think it will be a lot more clear with aircraft you will get in September or October.

Thank you.... I am not the OP and in fact not flying on this route til May next year. I am able to book seats soon but expecting this to change from the A330-200 by then.

If you are flying in May you will most likely get one of the leisure A350s then. The A332s will definitely be gone by then.

G-VKSS positioned from Manchester to Heathrow this afternoon as VS810P. This will probably be the next aircraft to return to service given the fact that KSS received big maintenance at Dresden earlier this year.

G-VNYC undertook a short test flight earlier today as VS808T. This aircraft along with 4 sister A333s (LUV, UFO, RAY & GBR) are showing no sign of returning to service any time soon. G-VLUV will be the next one to depart to Heathrow to return to service, but the timing of this is unknown.
All the A330s will be getting maintenance at Dresden at some point in the near future.

Some BGI and MCO flights from MAN and LHR are being changed as well.

Half of the A330-300 fleet are now back in the skies after KSS returning to service today.

The whole fleet should be back in the skies by late autumn.
