Currently in a very full Delta lounge at MCO on an UC ticket. I wanted to leave the lounge for five minutes to purchase something at Hudson news but the guy on the desk said I probably wouldn’t be allowed back in and would need to join the wait list. Is this something new?

I can’t help with the answer to that, but does the terminal seem at all quieter with the launch of terminal C?

The Delta Sky Club at MCO is way too small (it used to be about twice as big as it is now). Given that it's on top of the airside wing where all Delta flights go from & the fact you can easily get "status" that allows lounge access in the USA without even setting foot on a plane (i.e. credit cards), it's a joke. Same as the decor in the lounge too - take me back 20yrs.

It was very busy when I was there at the end of August, had to queue outside (not impressed). The afternoon storms had been playing havoc with the schedules causing lots of delays which meant the lounge was very busy.

All that said, it's FL in August/September, there are lots of storms and it really should be able to cope with it.

Delta have problems with their lounges at many other airports as well as I have to queue to get into the JFK T4 SkyClub lounge the other week. The queue had at least 20 waiting in front of me with at least the same behind me. Once inside it was a struggle to find somewhere to sit it was that full. Whilst the line moved reasonably quick it just shows the issues DL are having now with lounge access.

Even the grotty JFK T2 SkyClub was as full though that didn’t have a queue to get in!

It’s not just a DL issue. Lounges the world over are busier than before Covid because the passengers using them are different.

Fewer business travellers, who might pop in for a quick drink but rarely spend more than an hour, and more leisure travellers who typically spend longer and want their money’s worth.

Plus the well documented queues at many airports due to staff shortages which are driving many people to arrive earlier than they would otherwise.
