Hi all, does anyone know a quick and cheap way to get 4K miles into my silver account? I can't a do a flight at the moment, and its unlikely I'll be able to before I need the miles in my account....
Any ideas???[:?]

Virgin Wines....
If you haven't ordered before you get 1000 miles for your first order and then 750 for each subsequent order (order not case)
Plus you get loads of wine!

5 cases of wine... (13 bottles per case) = 65 bottles... glug...
(OR... Buy some SPG points and convert them to miles - but that's not cheap, and may not be quick enough : $25/500 at 1:1 conversion)

Hiya
Yes ... you can give me £2k VIA Paypal?

You get miles, i get money, easy deal!!
On a serious note, check out
this thread which covers most of the main ways of racking up the miles. Unless you can fit in a few hotel stays or rent a few cars, you might have to indulge in a spot of retail therapy to maximise your earning.

Apply for a VS CC and use that to buy loads of stuff you need before you fly

. May take a while of course to get through MBNA's processes

Are Amex still doing 4k/5k miles for applying and first purchase. I think this was for the gold card so maybe not now!

If your not flying are you looking at booking another type of reward or a flight for someone else?
VS may let you go 4k under if your booking a reward flight (its worth asking)

On spending idea...
Anyone signed up with BAA Worldpoints?? Seems almost foolproof?
Get a 100point bonus just for joining & once you have 500BAAWPs they convert to FC miles 1:1...
You then earn 1 Point for every £1 spent @ BAA airports, maybe not a quick way to make the 4k you need, but possibly an idea for future...
Here's what you earn points on.Partners you earn with arent named (at least I cant find!), but even for the less regular travellers who fancy another card in their purse/wallet, seems like yet another way to earn a few xtra miles for free buying items you may have done anyway...

In terms of going overdrawn, the policy has changed recently and it will require supervisor approval to go over - the supervisor have floor limits on how much they can approve too - if I recall it is now a maximum of 5K. I also seem to reemmber that this facility was now only avaialble to Golds.
Thanks,
Richard

To be slightly pedantic - this should actually be 5 orders of wine, since the miles are per order rather than per case

:D

Richard,
I am Ag and was allowed to go overdrawn by 500 miles to upgrade this week so there may be different limits for ag/au. The FC person did need approval even for low amount.

Simon

Ok, sad as I am I went & registered with BAA points to find out the partners & whilst Im none the wiser yet, anyone I refer that joins up - you get a 250point bonus first time they use their card (wifes being recomended as I type[^]).
Think i still have to use my card to activate fully, but will be a welcome bonus next time I fly & grab a coffee at the airport.
Not the quickest points earning potential (unless you can refer a few people who will be flying shortly) - but might be a good way to get a couple of thousand points for next to nothing...

What about transferring miles from Amex Membership Rewards. Assuming you have them just spend 4k on your Amex and pay it off and transfer the resulting miles to your FC account

if you hire 4 cars from Avis/hertz this would give you the miles - select a small car I am sure this would be one of the least inexpensive options?

I'd go for the wine as 5 cases isnt that pricey and will last you a while!!
