VS models planes

There are loads of different companies supplying VS branded models. Does anyone have a preferred manufacturer. THe few models I do have are GeminiJets and seem to be good quality apart from the older plastic stands. I see Big Bird are currently making a the 747 in VS "Austin Powered" livery. I wouldn't mind one of these but at the price I've seen:

not sure about the quality of this manufacturer. Does anyone have any opinions? Pix - are you going to be offering this one in your online emporium?

Not that particular model, since I don't really rate it very highly. 1/400 is also a bit *too* small, and that's a lot of money for a model of that size.

After a lot of research, I plumped for a couple of manufacturers - Risesoon (SkyMarks in the USA) and StarJets. Both make very high quality 1:200 models (on the StarJets, who make the A321 Virgin Sun, the engine fans even go round!). Risesoon's models of the A380, 747-400 and A340-600 attracted my attention since they use a solid model, with printed livery (not decals which could scratch off).

Anyways, I'm hoping they'll arrive in the next few weeks, and I'll be putting them onto the site as soon as they're here.

The site you refer to in your post is offering the Skymarks A380 & A340-600 at £43.95 - I plan to put them on VirginFlyer for £36. I probably won't be able to beat their price on the StarJets Virgin Sun A321 1:200 at £24.95, but I'll try and match it.

Sorry Pix, I wasn't trying to give you competition before you started. Anyway, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more to help support the site.

Sounds flash - not as good as my Virgin Funplane though - the LED's, sound - remote control - beats the hoop and stick I had as a kid!

Am I talking out of the top of my . . hat, aren't Starjets a brand name of Geminijets?

Difficult to keep track, since Gemini Jets seems to have so many brands!

I *think* StarJets are independent of Gemini. They did have a relationship with Schuco in Europe which recently ended, so it's a bit up in the air now. Ooo... a pun.

Just a quick bit of market research - how many people are interested in the aircraft models? I dunno now whether I've under-ordered, and with the lead times being so long it might be worth me putting in another order now if the demand is there.

The models I've ordered are:

A380 Virgin Atlantic 1:200
A340-600 Virgin Atlantic 1:200
B747-400 Virgin Atlantic 1:200
A320-100 Virgin Sun 1:200

No obligation, but if you can raise you're hand if you're interested in any of those, I can compare that with my (modest) initial order...

Is there any chance of getting a VS 747-400 in a larger scale 1:100 or do I have to pinch the one behind the tele in revivals:D:D:D

I'm sure that one is bigger than 1:100 - it is a lovely model though.

You can get models larger than 1:200, but typical you start getting into the 'Travel Agent' models, and the price jumps from the very-reasonable 40 quid mark for 1:200 up to a hefty £1000+ very quickly. Not sure I'll be stocking many of those ;)

I have just come across this website:

And they have a 747, 1:100 scale in VS livery for 330 euros plus p+p.

It looks as if they are based in France. I have no connection with them and have never dealt with them, so I do not know what they are like, just thought you might be interested.

I saw some in the metal tins at Birmingham Airport Aviation Experiance model shop yesterday. they have a great selection of different models there.
You could try ringing them
8707 335511 and ask for The Aviation Experiance

Hello there Pix ...

I'm (as you can tell) a new site user who lives in the USA (in San Jose, California)

I would love to purchase two of the 747 models. One for my step-daughter (who lives in New York with her father, but will be travelling with her mother and I to London in July on VS20/VS19 UC) and one for my own office desk.

I certainly hope that you will be able to obtain and make these models available for those of who live on this side of the pond. [^]

You will be able to puchase them onboard your flight to London.

Just tell the crew to save you some as only 3 747 and 2 A346 are loaded on every flight!!!!

Can you not pre-order from RT on the way out to LHR? Or, if that's how he wants to do it, Jim might be better advised to pre-order for the way back to SFO :)

Finally, some of the Virgin Atlantic models have arrived - although so far only a few of the A340-600s (these things are trickier than I first thought to get hold of!). The first delivery of the A340-600s are now in the store, but I can't guarantee how long they'll last - only 4 in stock at the moment.

I also added the Virgin Viscount recently, in the old style livery, which was used on the Maastricht route and there's also a couple of the Virgin Sun A320s left.

The A380s and 747s are still on their way - and apologies for the delay - but I have increased my order on the manufacturer to cover anticipated demand.
