When did the upgrades go DOWN?

Not sure how I missed it before, but I just noticed something on my old, old statement.

There's an entry from 2002 when I was going on holiday. I remember booking it, as I bought a Y ticket and up'd it to PE using miles - but my FC account shows the upgrade (to LAX) costing 17,500 miles each way.

However, I can't remember far back enough in detail to know if there was an "official" reduction in upgrade amounts published. But I'm intrigued to know when it shifted down to 20k from 35k... [:?]

Anyone know?

If I recall, it was done at the same time they 'reduced' the reward costs for some of the routes - think it was early 2002. I will check!

Remember when UC reward for NRT was 150k!

Thanks,
Richard

Well it wasn't 2002 - found an old thread of mine on FT:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthre ... ht=upgrade

Still looking, it must have been in the 03 refresh - I think....

Thanks,
Richard

May 2003. Y>W down from 35k rt to 20k, W>J down from 50k rt to 40k, and the introduction of Y>J at a cost of 60k rt.

Thanks,
Richard

Wasn't it at the same time they reduced west coast mileage only from 100k to 80k? (G)
