I found the image below tonight via Google. Apologies if it has been posted before:

Mmmm, nice.

What about the back of the bus though?

Isnt this a general cabin picture that was relased by airbus of how the a380 cabin could be set out?

I can't see why the photos have been labelled "Virgin Atlantic's Airbus A380". These look like the standard promotional shots which are likely to be fairly distant from the actual thing. Most of the shots have barely any seats in them at all, so I doubt that will help the airline pay for the aircraft :).

I agree with Jason. Looks nice but too much empty space.

For us "blind as a bat" people, the IFE screens are far to far away to be seen :)

Yes, that is a promotional demonstration cabin interior set-up. It's up to the airlines what they want to put inside, although am I correct in thinking that I read somwhere that you have to pay extra for this?

It looks great, but not much privacy. I am afraid I am one of those who does not believe a word of all this hype about "soooo much extra space". I am sure they will get approval to stuff the things with extra bums-on-seats. And if they don't, they will just build in extra cargo storage to use up the otherwise wasted revenue potential.
Don't worry Alan, they probably have other seats for the elderly where the screens are closer and you can shout at the person next to you about how "it wasn't like this in my day - luxury!". Suspect it will be me in the seat next to you! It's a thought though - 4 class planes - Y, S, J, and OAP.

Those are pictures of a mock up cabin in Toulouse that I got to see a few years ago (quick google would suggest Easter 2002).

I got to go to the delivery day of one of Cathay's Airbus A330 and we were shown around the mock up as well as having a peak preview of the first Virgin A340-600 being finnished.

Now you see, in the good 'ol days of Vickers Viscounts and Vangards and Boeing 707's we HAD plenty of room and really comfy leather seats, china cups and tableware, a chef.......[:I]

Oh yes your right Alan, planes today aren't a touch on the comet. And the cabin crew were real cabin crew in those days, not that they were called cabing crew then. Have you seen what they wear these days; youngsters they are, and no mistake. Pah! ;)

I guess the more mature generation has a different memory of the Comet than I.

Hmmm, ok, I think I'm going to split this thread off and have a separate one for chats about onboard dress code :)

While that takes place, I'll temporarily lock this topic to prevent extra posts getting mixed up. I'll update this post with the location of the new thread when it's done....

New thread "Dress code when flying", now located here - this topic will be unlocked shortly.

Cheers
