Have just discovered that mr cat's credit card hasn't been credited with airmiles for the last 16 months, for purchases made! Tyring desperately to get through to flying club and they're taking forever. How the hell can this have happened???

Is this the Virgin M/Card you are talking about?
If so the best people to speak to are the Virgin Members Shop team. Their phone number is 08456 10 2000. They will be able to check if Mr Cat's Virgin M/Card is the miles earing version and if so why he has not been getting the miles.
Virgin Money, MBNA or FC will not be able to do much I'm afraid...

Yes, it's the Virgin m/card.... he did eventually get through to Virgin Money and FC. Looks as though the problem arose when Mr cat's card got cloned at the end of 2004, and he was issued wiith a new card, with a different account number - and it wasn't linked to his FC account. The person he spoke to at FC told him this does happen and to rest assured that all backdated miles will be credited.
But - thanks for the info and the phone number - I will surely be checking his account over the next week to see if it's updated - and if it isn't, I now have another number to call.
So annoying and actually very remiss of me not to have picked up on it well before now. I think I need to stay behind after school and clean the blackboard as penance... [:#]

Glad you appear to have got to the root of the problem - very annoying. BTW, is your other half's name Tom by any chance

When I first read this thread and another one which refers to Mr Cat, I actually thought you had written "my cat". I thought the feline member of Maison honey lamb was pampered but to have its own credit card would be taking it to a new level entirely [:0]

LOL Honey. The real cat in this household is also another pampered pet, beyond belief. She only eats chicken, so we cook it for her... I know,I know, I KNOW - this is disgusting - but, she's had a liver condition (unrelated to drinking) and now is always in danger of a relapse. We need to be sure she's getting enough calories.... I don't know, the lengths some cats will go to to get chicken.... but credit card? No... or maybe that she be not yet! [V]

Anyone have any idea of how long it might take to get these missing miles credited? Talking about it with mr cat (not my cat!) this am and he reckoned it could take ages - I feel, however,, it should take no longer than it does for miles for a flight to appear.
OK,so maybe he's right.....[:o)]

Well, I Got my new card back in jan, there were no points on my feb statement so called the members shop and had the same problem as you, my Flying club number was not attached to my card, they told me that the points will all go over on the next statement, which for me is the begining of April.
So I assume that for you the same will apply, and you should get them on your next statement!

Thanks Gavin. This wasn't mentioned when we spoke to members services, but is good to know. It could just save them calls from people such as us, chasing what's rightfully theirs. I just hope they don't decide to take the tack that we should have noticed before now (16 months) - and they'd have a point, except that it's mr c's account and I don't check it often. Plus, airmiles from flights have, of course, gone on his flying club card, so I guess it just sort of got missed. Either was, it's their error, and they did say we'd get the miles back - quite a tidy sum of miles, in fact....

Hi,
I recently upgraded from S fare to G fare and have not recieved the miles for the departure flight, even though the miles for the return flight have been added to my flying club account. I have the original boarding card for the departure flight, should i try and phone Flying club or should i post them the boarding card to them with the flight details?
I should still receive miles for Premium even tho i used miles to upgrade to G fare, right?
thanks

l.a. riot this is something that Virgin have to do manually on their system in order for you to be credited with your miles.
Last time I just emailed and had a response and was credited within 48 hours. I would try this first and if no joy - post in your boarding card with explanation.
Oh sorry - Welcome to the site

A quick call to Flying Club should sort out the missing miles. The system that processes the automatic crediting of miles to your account is unable to differentiate between an upgraded revenue ticket and a full reward ticket as both are issued in the 'G' class. If you call and explain that you were on an 'S' fare upgraded with miles to 'G' the missing miles should be credited right away.
Regards,
Barry

Jumping slightly off-topic, but is the same "get in touch with the flying club" advice applicable to miles from partner/hotel stays?

Er, I don't know... I'm still waiting for my miles to appear - well, mr cat's, but in the light of what someone here said, that might not happen until the next credit card statement. But I'm impatient for this to happen.... sorry, as to your question, it can't hurt to call them. If they aren't the right people, then surely they should at least be able to direct you to the right number?

Yes, but just wait a little longer for those as some hotel chains aren't too good at crediting the miles quickly. I'd say 28 days after the stay ends would be reasonable.
(This is assuming we're now talking about direct credits to your FC account, and not to the FC Credit Card)
Cheers
Michael

Hey, hey, hey..... those miles appeared on Mr C's cc statement today, so assume they'll also be on his f/club without too much further ado.
Am well pleased - given his account a real boost![^]
