I am in the LHR lounge and the staff say the new section will be open tomorrow.
Poor timing on my part!

Indeedy and I think it's much needed, opening up a little bit early so they can iron out any teething problems they might have in time for the Dubai inaugral.

Hi All
My camera is all charged up and waiting for Saturday

..... will be surprised if I am the first V-Flyer thru' as it will have been open 4 days ! ...... be rather nice if thats the case... 'cos Mrs S will be with me for her first flight in Upper ..... she's got herself a weeks shopping in LA while I'm hard at work !!

.. its taken me years to convince her that I dont go on 'Jolly' everytime I'm away

.... now what will she think after the CH and an 11+ hour flight in UCS

Will keep you all posted (just hope I can tell the difference between phase 1 and 2 so I take the right pics !! as i've not been in phase 1 yet)
Regards
Mark

I got a chance to experience the expanded lounge yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures. However, I can say that the lounge will blow your socks off. I particularly like the new (quiet) business area and the ability to go outside to watch the planes (accessible from the skybar). I also think that the pool table is a nice touch as is the expanded dining area. They are definitely trying to make the dining area more of a proper restaurant, going so far as to walk around with bread for your meal. I have to say that I was hoping my flight would be delayed so I could spend more time exploring.

Thanks for the update NY-LON pity you were camera-less!
What have they done to the Observatory, it was rumoured to be made into a proper restaurant, seems like it may just be a bar from your post, "skybar"?

I recieved a notification about Phase II today, which re-directs to the
VS website, no actual pictures but nice visuals to see. The Sky Lounge looks fantastic, and i think will be my base for future flights!
Im there in 7 days, and im starting to wish that i could get there earlier to get a proper look around as i doubt ill be able to get to LHR before 5/6pm, thank heavens i am off to IAD with Richard two weeks after, where im sure we will be in the CH from about 7am!
I'll be taking pictures a plenty on both trips

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi All
Just a quickie ........ Been through the new CH today on my way to LAX ..... all I can say is WOW [8D]......... Sorry didnt post pics straight away ... having a few technical difficulties (a laptop crash !) ..... I cant get them small enough to upload Ive reduced them as much as I can in the camera and I have had to borrow a laptop with hardly any software on ........ could I email them to someone to post on my behalf ?? ..... the quality on some is not brill as I had to resort to not using a flash ..... had a couple of PAX objecting to being in my pictures (which is fair enough) .. and the flash was drawing attention to me and I didnt want to get kicked out !!
Having not been into phase 1 ... I was highly impressed .... particularly the pool table and space invader machines in 'The Den'... (thats the child in me coming out !) .... the library had a particularly impressive table in it which has come from SRB's home (not sure which one) ... the sky lounge was cool has a glass table which looks down onto the pool table on the floor below... but the view from the lounge was not as expected.... however you can walk upstairs on to the sky garden to enjoy that wonderful smell of aviation fuel ... there is a lift up there for those who are less mobile.
The Deli was nice for a quick bite (not sure if that was in phase 1?)
The Brasserie was very nice .... told to allow at least 30 mins for your order.
Just wish I had made my car booking 2 hours earlier.
Sure there is stuff I have forgotten and hope I can get the pics posted soon.
Anyway off to bed now ..... try and avoid my usual jetlag on this trip..[|)]

Hi Mark,
If you are using Windows XP, you can install [url=http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
]this powertoy[/url] which exposes the Resize/Compression functionality:
You will get an extra item when you right click and image or group of images and it will allow you to resize them down in size very easily.
Thanks,
Richard
