LAS shut down yesterday...
Posted: 31 Mar 2006, 15:03Ok so one of the radio stations here in town decides that it would be cool to run a promotion to give away some baseball tickets.
The station KOMPmorning show host Craig comes up with a novel idea.A local store that buy advertising on the station agrees to give him a blow up Jenna Jameson doll,They cloth it in KOMP gear then fill it with helium.
The contest involes guessing how many helium filled balloons it will take to get this thing airborne.Well after a short while and after contacting the weather guys at KVVU Fox 5 and getting the word that the wind is blowing to the northwest it was also decided that they would release the Jenna doll and whoever recovered it would also get tickets.
In the end it took 51 ballons to get the thing to fly,of course as ever the weather guy was a little off.Instead of heading to the northwest it headed to the southeast before finding some clear air...
Right at the end runway 25L,the main landing runway at LAS just to the north of Wayne Newtons house.
This of course shut down all landings at LAS for a while.
The FAA are now investingating the stunt.
Only in Vegas could flights be diverted due to a blow up doll blocking the runway.
