reward availability - release of seats

SFO - LHR on or around the 15th of June currently has no reward availability in any class. Customer service say the flight is 75% sold...

Is it likely that more seats will be released, and if so when?

I need to get back on the 15th - should I wait for possible release of more reward fares or purchase a ticket now?

thanks in anticipation

A couple of questions.

Do you have status with VS? Rev managment are more likely to release inventory close to the flight date to a gold card holder.

How flexible is the date? You say you need to get back on 15th June. If the date is inflexible, I would buy a return seat, but it is up to you.

If the flight is 75% sold two and a half months before, then I would think it is likely to be a busy flight and wouldn't guarantee any more reward seats being released.

If you take a look here there is another discussion going on about something similar.

Last year I tried for a couple of months to get two reward seats out of LAS/LAX/SFO,booking PE upgrading to UC.When we booked the seats in May we were told there were no seats open for anything close to the dates we wanted, but we could book PE and keep checking.

After checking prices of VS PE and BA WT+ (to me they are the same)BA came in &$800 pp cheaper,so no brainer.

I did however keep checking with VS up to and including the departure date and they never did release any more seats, though I now am a red card holder so have 0 status with them and the flight did leave with open seats [V]
