Guys and Gals I am sure you will all be pleased to hear that from the 15th April you can use the NEW Air New Zealand lounge.

It had the following to enjoy.

Relaxation Zone

A quieter area of the lounge away from the noise of the television and reception area. Wide, comfortable lounge chairs to settle back in, a library area containing a wide variety of books and extensive views across the tarmac and northern runways and out towards the Hollywood Hills.

Business Zone

A dedicated business centre with PCs that are connected to the internet with printing, facsimile and photocopying facilities.

Refresh Zone

6 shower suites complete with everything needed to refresh before the flight.

Entertainment Zone

A separate entertainment area for smaller children – complete with television, toys and books. An interactive bar area – easy access to the food servery and in view of the main plasma screen. Includes portable game consoles to entertain those young and old.

Replenishment Zone

Fresh food offering inspired by the flavours of New Zealand washed down with fine New Zealand wines. A wide selection of spirits – including New Zealand's award winning 42 Below vodka

That is good news, the old Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge was looking rather tired and in need of a make-over :) Not as good as having our own CH but this should be a big improvement [y]

At last! I've been using the Air Canada lounge since the mid-90s and its about time there were some other arrangements.

Maybe now that there is going to be an NZ flight LHR-AKL via HKG, NZ are expecting their through pax to go that way round and cut out all the tedious security nonsense, hence more space in the lounge! :)

Well, there is that, but they would still have a lot of O&D pax - but actually the reason is that Air New Zealand are just opening a new lounge which is more than twice the size of the old one.

Cheers!

We would have liked to try it on our next LAX trip, having previously used the AC Maple Leaf lounge and, through Priority Pass, the NorthWest lounge on the other side of the mezzanine, it would have been interesting to get a comparison. Certainly from the pics it appears to destroy the others. However, as we have already booked to return via SFO, so that we could use the CH; I don't think I will bother to change the itinerary now. ;)

virginisthebest,
Thanks very much for that update. This can only help VS at LAX, which is not a particularly friendly airport even if it is smaller than most people would imagine.

Used the lounge last year when flying back with Air NZ on their first flight to London with the Suites setup. Have to say their lounge was very nice (all be it not a Clubhouse) much better than the Air Canada lounge or any other nonsene the American Airlines like to call lounges.

The food was not the best, but maybe Virgin will nock this up a level, space wise very nice and well laid out. During the day time very light and airy with big windows, not sure about the atmosphere on an evening though.

Oh man! I fly out of LAX on the evening of the 14th. Do you think I could try to sneak into the new lounge a few hours ahead of the official open? [:p]
