VA or VH

We want to book flight only, perhaps a flydrive, so if the quoted prices on VA and VH are similar, are there any benefits in going with one or the other? We are flying club members and may book UC.

Hi Maz
One major advantage of booking through VH is the paid access to the CH if you are not travelling in Upper, you can also claim 10% discount as a FC member over the total cost of your booking.
Direct with VS, its easier to manage your booking over the net as you do not need to get your VS booking reference from VH, you can be sure your FC number will get on the booking and you wont get tied in to any welcome meetings or anything like that.
Where are you going? That might help crunch it?
For me personally, if the flights are the same price, i would always book direct over the phone with VS.
Thanks,
Sarah

I tend to agree with Sarah on this one! Its the same flight, same price etc...if you are not travelling in UC then paid access to CH with VH is a benefit... and also if you are not familier with your destination then VH reps are sometimes helpfull?
Other than that book with VS direct

Thanks for the quick replies.
We would be travelling Man to Mco. At the moment there are sale prices on the VA site I think. These are cheaper, even if you have a car, at the moment than the flydrive on VH, but you have to pay up front, which is hefty if UC. Would do this if the benefit was better than VH though. There may or may not be a 15% discount day at Easter on VH, which would bring the price closer, but still not less.
The CH in Manchester is pathetic I gather!!!
Thanks again

Is it possible to book flights only using VH?
On top of that, could you book a single PE ticket via VH, and then obtain a companion ticket via VA using miles as long as I had the e-ticket number?
Cheers,
Darryl

I *think* it's only possible as a flydrive, including car hire - but this sometimes still works out cheaper

Nope. PE for VH is booked in H class - and therefore a non-companionable fare.

Often if necessary and the rest of your holiday compenents work out cheaper you can book the flights with VH as a flydrive or just book the cheapest accom and don't use it.
We often use VH for our Oct visit to Orlando for the accom only as their UC premiums are huge on some of their routes when you book weel in advance and they are often a lot cheaper direct with VS.
