Odd number of miles quoted

I'm searching for a R/T LHR-JFK economy fare. I'm silver tier.

Normally, it would come up with 5188 miles (meaning an N-class fare) or 8646 (all others). This time, one run (VS009/010, 27/05-06/06) comes up as 6917.. which is the number you'd normally get on Red tier. Searching on full-fare economy comes up with the correct silver miles, so I don't think it's my account.

Is it possible to get an N-class one way, and a regular economy the other way? If my math is right, that should add up to 6917.

(I'll ring VA to book, because I don't want N-class, but I'd like to know for future reference.)

Its exactly possible to do that as there are only so many tickets in each fare bucket (even though they are all economy)
Chances are N is availble one leg but not the other..

Its a known gripe with the VS website that you cant book a specific fare code so have to call to book (which costs more)

It is certainly a gripe, but since the demise of online booking discount and / or bonus. The only difference is the price of the phone call, so it should hardly break the bank. [8D]

I would say that is what is happening, give them a call,I wonder if VS will ever allow booking by fare class.
