Have been thinking on this for the last couple of hours. VS does V smartly indeed match registrations and names and does this in a brill manner.

VNAP Sleeping Beauty
VFAR Diana
VWKD - Miss Behavin
VWIN - Lady Luck

These all and others make so much sense.

There are some I cant understand however. Can you please let me know if possible.

VBLU - Soul Sister
VELD - African Queen
VHOL - Jetstreamer

What do these mean or how were they coined

V-BLU - as in Soul and Blues music
V-ELD - The Veld is a number of plataeus in South Africa that occupy two thirds of the country.
V-HOL - as in Virgin Holidays.

Out of interest (may have been covered before), who gets to name the planes? Are there special people or is it somebody different every time?

I don't know about VS (I wish I had that job;)) but at Jetblue, they use employee suggestions.

On the which aircraf? section of this website, I checked to see if the plane I flew on matched the aircraft.

On VS10 - 6/10/06 it says G-VYOU but on checking the side of the plane before departure, the plane was actually G-VSSH -Sweet Dreamer.[:(]

but then checking the database, it says G-VSSH was actually the VS10 flight while on the 6/10/06 G-VYOU was VS24 [:?]
