5000 FC Miles?

PostPosted: 23 May 2006, 19:48

Presumably many of us received an email from FC today about the new "Insider"...

In that email there's a link (in the "competition" section) where one is encouraged to look at Virginpoker.com and play a game where you can win 1 million FC miles. On clicking this link and logging into the FC website, it says one is awarded 5000 FC miles simply for registering with VirginPoker.com. Too good to be true?

Well I registered as a new user on VirginPoker.com and expected there to be a field where I could input my FC membership number. However on completing registration and not finding any field for FC number I tried to follow this up both with FC Sliver Helpline and VirginPoker's helpline and was stonewalled. FC Silver Helpline was particularly unhelpful saying they didn't know anything other than reservations despite this being a FC-specific promotion.

Has anyone else been tempted by earning a free 5000 FC miles, but come up against the same confusion? Anyone managed to successfully register at VirginPoker.com and receive the FC Miles?

Any news would be appreciated.

Rob

Maybe it's the Virgin Casino promo all over again?

Was the Virgin Casino thing the same as the Virgin Poker thing appears to be? i.e. did you get FC miles simply for registering?

Think there was a play-through requirement, but Virgin Poker is part of the same arm of Virgin as Virgin Casino, so it's likely to be related to their HighFlyer Club.

On the email I received it clearly says that you get 5k miles if you register AND play .... if you follow the link to the FC website it says that you need to register and play 50 hands of poker BEFORE you get your 5k miles....... No such thing as a free lunch :D

Well, I've registered a new account on VirginPoker, but I'm not going to play for a bit - still, I'm registered for tomorrow night's million mile freeroll :D If anyone's on the same table as me, my nickname is mcuth72 (and please, no comments on the way I play Poker, my style's pretty unorthodox ;))

Cheers

Well, I'm presuming they just credit your "V Points" account, and then you enter your FC number for the transfer....

Cheers

From The Virgin atlantic site :

Step 1:
Download the Virgin Poker software at http://www.virginpoker.com to register for a new account, deposit $20 (roughly £12) or more and play on any cash table you like. YouÕll need to play at least 50 hands on a cash table to qualify for the 5,000 miles bonus.

Step 2:

Once youÕve done that Virgin Poker will get in touch with you to ask for your Flying Club membership number. Once youÕve played your 50 hands your Flying Club account will be credited with your 5,000 miles.

Oh ! And thank goodness they have finally come up with this promotion. I've been holding back from registering on the off chance this might happen:D

I'm still upset at missing the 10,000 points from the casino by registering too early![B)][:#]

Mind you, if the poker tables crash as frequently as the casino it will be extremely frustrating[n]

Hi

I signed up to Virgin Casino and got 10k miles when that promotion was on.

Am I still able to register with virginpoker for the 5k miles even though I have an account with Virgin Casino ?

Also, to play through 50 hands on poker, is there a minimum bet or hand you have to play ? i.e. would $20 be enough to play through 50 hands?

I think you can have both accounts.

Not really sure what they class as playing 50 hands.
the lowest cash tables are 5c/10c so I guess if you fold all the time it will cost you very little !

I missed out from the Virgin Games 10k too, by registering "too early". Still not pleased about that. It seems odd to me that Virgin Games and Virgin Casino (and whislt we're on that topic Virgin Skill) are seperate sites with different logins and promotions.

From what I can work out Virgin Poker its 50hands at 5c/10c. I'll practice today for tonights rounds!

Can someone who is knowledgable do the sums and give us a minimum cost to get the 5k miles. Am I reading it at 50*10c (cents or pence) = 5 pounds and get you then get your balance credited back?

If this is basically a cheap 5k then I'm in - hey might even get a good hand. [y]

If your only playing for the points :

It depends if they mean getting dealt in 50 hands or actually betting on 50 hands[?]

If you only have to sit in on 50 hands then on a 10 player table if you fold all the time you will only have to bet the big and small blinds every 10 hands. In theory 50 hands will only cost you 37.5c[:0]

If you have to bet on 50 hands then you could, in theory, bet 5c per hand and then fold. The cost would then be $2.50

Don't hope for a good hand using this strategy however as you will never get into a winning position. You will fold before the community cards are drawn.

If you want to play correctly (IE with some chance of winning a hand )then LIMIT tables will minimise the amount you can lose on a single hand. The amount you lose will ultimately depend upon how many hands you bet upon, how much you raise/call and how far you bet on each pot[:?]

So, if you already have an account do you need a 'new' one or can you use the old a/c to qualify?

Do you mean an existing poker or casino account ?

The Virgin Poker site is seperate from the casino and needs a new registration.

The 5,000 mile promotion is only open to 'new' Poker accounts[n]

Just for info, I registered for an account last night and played on the 25c/50c tables for a while. I've just received the following email from 'Vpoints' :

Thanks for coming over to Virgin Poker, itÕs great to see you at the tables.

As you are a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club member we are running a 5000 miles promotion for you for the next couple of months and weÕre happy to tell you that you have already qualified for the 5000 miles

To claim your miles simply reply to this email with your Flying Club number and we will credit your Flying Club account within the next 30 days. If you have already emailed us, then we will have credited your account with the 5,000 miles (please allow 30 days for these to be updated).

Looks like it works[y]

( and I was a massive $13.00 up on the night as well:D)

DD

P.S. I wonder how they knew I was a flying club member ( but needed my flying club number emailed) ??[?]
