Does anyone know what I need to do if I want to book a VH PE trip and then upgrade to VA UC (because VH has no UC allocation left on the return leg but VA do)?

Many thanks....

I think you will struggle with this. Once VH run out of allocation I do not believe they have any way of getting any more seats in whatever class you require.

The best suggestion I have if your holiday is date specific is to book the holiday in the highest class possible, then keep calling back to see if they can accommodate you!

Could always try to pay cash on the day of travel when checking in. Could work but probably not on ex-MAN, LGW, and GLA routes because on the small UCS cabin. But never hurts to ask. :)

VA won't deal with VH bookings until the day of departure. Sounds strange but they treat themselves as 2 seperate companies.

Last year VH requested me 2 x PE seats which they didn't have an allocation for. It took about 3 weeks for them to get an answer. VA do give them more availability but it's all dependent on loads and how many seats they think they can potentially sell themselves. If you are travelling at a peak time/or route - I fear that your only chance will be a cash upgrade on the day unfortunately......:)

Good Luck......

VAA won't deal with any agents/tour operators bookings until the day of travel... in this Vhols is the same as any Tour Operator. All changes have to be made by the Tour Operator in their system to avoid problems.

Once the sub-class or VHols allocations is full then they can request further seats at their rates but this isn't guaranteed.

If theres still availability in Upper class, then unfortunately the only way to guarantee a seat is to pay extra for it. Thats likely to be the Published J or Dclass fare which will be significantly more expensive. V-Hols do I believe have access to these fares as well?

Er...that's cos they are two seperate companies!!! :)

I was always told that when you book through a tour operator the flight is such a small percentage of the total package that's why the airlines are reluctant to touch the booking

You can get some good deals by upgrading a V Hols booked VS flight at the airport on the day of your departure.

I've upgraded a 'H' VHols PE fare to Upper in the past with no problems at all (a couple of years ago now, at BOS which cost me $942.00)

The only minor thing was that they put me on a 'G' fare in Upper (reward class) so I only received my original PE miles/TP's for the flight.

I think they just see what fares are left in the class you want to upgrade to on the day.
