Jumeriah is great. The Apartment is very cool to go to for a drink and you should be fine and not have to queue as a resident.
I reccommend the Al Khayal Lbanese retsaurant it was fab.

Their own website is really helpful http://www.jumeirahbeachhotel.com/

You are close to Mall of the Emirates so Skiing is possible!

Madinat Souk is also nice for a wander and worth making a reservation at Trader Vics in the Madinat Area you can get a buggy and then a boat to it from JB.

Have a fab time

I'm not a great fan of Dubai but the one thing I did enjoy was the Bab Al Shams Dessert Resort... simply stunning... they do a Dinner/ Entertainment evening which is actually pretty fantastic, and worth the money.

The VS400 on 2nd July is currently scheduled as an A346. A346's should be doing this route from now (DXB went daily yesterday on A346's) unless there is a change of aircraft for operational reasons.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel is great, very central, has a lovely beachfront location, free shuttle to the Emirates Mall and more bars and restaurants that you can possibly use. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Id certainly recommend trying Ski Dubai and getting out to the desert - you could not choose two more diverse but equally wonderful activities! The desert trips seem to be popular so i would book that in advance if you do decide to give it a go. Wild Wadi is also very popular if you like hurtling yourself down watery slides - i do not (but its a great spectator sport)! :)

There is a plethora of information on Dubai in the various fora as many of us (myself included) have been there since the route launch in March. Try here and here and here for some recent threads, or use the search function at the top of the page with the variables 'Dubai' or 'DXB' and i am sure you will find lots more information.

Have a fab trip!

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi all, thanks so much for the information. You have all been great![y] I will let you all know how it goes and if the PE seats are the new ones. Better get saving for the shopping (or is it not that much cheaper than here?!)...
Thanks,

John :)

To be honest for a lot of stuff i didn't really find it any cheaper. Looked a various things, clothes, laptop, sunglasses and certainly for what i was looking for it was no cheaper than back home if you bought from the internet. Although the duty free in the airport seemed to be cheaper than the shops.

^ Have to concur, shopping in Dubai isnt really the place for bargain hunting. I nabbed a nice pair of Versace sunglasses but many items seemed similarly priced (if not more expensive) than the UK. Asia is still the haven for me when it comes to bargains!

Thanks,
Sarah

Oh BTW, dont forget to barter, even in the shopping malls. The price on the ticket isn't always the price you pay....

Do a desert safari. They're great fun. We booked one at our hotel no problem.

Edited to add:
Don't forget the Gold Souq

Yeah, Abu Dhabi is much better IMO. When we went to Dubai for the inaugural in March, time was limited, so I didn't get to see much. However, the Bab Al Sham resort was rather nice, as suggested above. The bar at the top of Jumeirah Towers is pretty cool too. I didn't really like DXB that much but for others, I should think it's brilliant. I think you'll have a great time!

The airport duty free is not cheaper than downtown(for phones anyway). We bought 2 new Nokia's for less in the emirates mall.
