Hi guys i feel like i have been discriminated by Decker.
i have pointed on in my first post that im very sorry for my bad spelling ect,ect and as i point out to decker in a pm this is discrimination which is against the law these days.

This contains over 14 grammatical/spelling/punctuation errors. We don't do text speak on the fora. Please capitalize "I" and punctuate abbreviations etc etc.

I don't think you are being discriminated against at all.

Ever since V-Flyer started, we have tried to encourage reasonable standards of spelling and grammar, and have asked members to comply with this forum rule.

We have specifically said that we don't allow text speak, and feel that it is a simple courtesy to make posts legible and easy to read.

We are acutely aware that some of our members suffer from dyslexia and, as well as sympathising, we do make allowances.

All we ask is that those who are not afflicted with this condition, take care in their posts and make use of the spell checker, which Pete has recently introduced into the reply field of the forum.

The mods also communicate our feelings in private to members, but you have chosen to bring the debate into the public arena.

Everyone makes mistakes, and a small number of errors are acceptable. Having said that, I always try to re-read my posts as soon as I have put them onto the board, and it is a pretty simple job to edit them using the edit icon. This is made easier by the spell checker.

Please do not think this is anything personal against you. We are simply trying to make the site a better place for all.

Exactly what law dictates that a moderator of a discussion board is not allowed to ask someone who posts on it to observe the rules they wish their members to follow?

I would add I suffer from mild dyslexia and copy + paste from Word is the way to go.
Word has a grammar and spelling checker and does the job for me[|:)].

Having said this IÕm sure I have made some grammatical errors [:I] and have had no issues with the mods on this site[^].

It is policy to allow intermittent mistakes to slide as we all make them from time to time. My postings are not without errors. The suggestion that people use Word is indeed an excellent one.

My spelling is really good - its my typing that's poor so the addition of the spulechucker has been a big advantage to making things look good!!

I think we all agree that its good to have the site looking good and easy to read - so spacing, punctuation and the like are all important.

I know the mods spend a great deal of "admin" time tidying up our posts to make them more legible.[y]

And yes - I have tried to use less exclamation marks - but its just this problem I have - sorry!!

Like Nick said, I also go over my posts, quite thoroughly actually, to make sure that it has no grammar or spelling errors. It's not that difficult unless you have dyslexia or something similar.

Oh, and seeing as though the Mods dictate policy they can technically do anything they want.

I write all my TR's in Word to start with (often using my lap-top whilst I'm still sat on board - one thing to pass the time)

Using Word does make a big difference [y]

I use Bon Echo which checks my spelling for me! Now if only it checked grammar as well ...

To all the non dyslexic or mild dyslexic people out there. Spell checkers are not much good to people with dyslexia as it is simply leads to other problems such as.

1. Homophone substitution.
2. Incorrect substitution of words
3. The inclusion of phonetic equivalent words
4. The repetition of informative phrases
5. American Spelling

I am a profoundly dyslexic general manager of a private health care facility. I have 3 A levels 4 O Levels and 6 C.S.E's I have a diploma in Health Care and I am currently completing a C.M.I Management Certificate. I have completed countless certified and credited courses in health care and Management. The biggest help to me is the understanding of dyslexia from other people and the wonderful help of my secretary where appropriate.

But on a serious note I was approached by Decker on this subject two days ago, and following a number of private messages a mutual understanding has been reached and although the Mod's first post was a little heavy handed and confrontational, I now believe that after a little lesson in the wider aspect's of dyslexia, punctuation and grammatical correctness that the Mod's may now be able to distinguish more easily the dyslexic members from the lazy posters and therefore avoid such undermining private messages being received.

Hey Decker please tell me if I have done well with this post. I did not have my Sec to help me this time.

Could come accross a little BA oops I mean elitist monitoring peoples writing and spelling abilities, this site is supposed to be all inclusive the common denominator being a healthy interest in Virgin.

I certainly would feel a little hurt and embarassed if someone questioned my abilities in a private or public message..

Homophones are pink and have Kylie Minogue as ring tones.

Seriously though for those who do not know a homophone is a word of the same language that is pronounced alike but may be different in its origin, spelling or meaning like POOR and POUR

Actually Andy the Discrimination Law dictates it.
It covers prohibited discrimination by Public authorities, Private Clubs of which in terms of law this may seem to be one as you are required to accept the rules before you become a free or paid up member, Need I go on?.
