We Love NY

Expect to see a campaign soon on the New York service, Virgin are keen to show that as from July their 6 daily flights to JFK/EWR are the only way to travel to New york.
There will be adverts in the press and if you are in the main London railway stations on the 4 July you may see some promotions also...
Even with the new BA club world being launched in OCT, Virgins new Superseat in Premium will be 21" wide (wider than the current Club seat) yes BA may even put a small bar onboard but will most likey take form of a cupboard... and they may even copy the freedom menu in the form of Pot noodles.
But on a serious note we all agree on this site there is only one choice when travelling from london to New York..... Why get a taxi when you can have a limo...? why suffer in a narrow World Traveller Plus seat when you can have the superseat? Why be told when you should eat like at school when you can make an adult decision? why sit in a dull Lounge when you can spend almost a afternoon in the Clubhouse using a spa, getting a tan or a haircut? ......

Why RISK not getting the "Superseat", as VS will undoubtedly take 3 years to roll it out to all aircraft... [ii];)
While it all sounds good - VS had better REALLY think about what they're promising with fanfare and streamers : CAN they actually (reliably) deliver it?

Or better yet, From London to New Jersey.

By the way Milehigh, or anyone else reading this. Do you know whether any upgrades are on the books for EWR because of the new Virgin Limited - Natirar - being opened early next year in New Jersey? It would be great it we could get a revamped clubhouse.. [}:)]

Which is all great if you're flying in a Premium cabin but for the other 75% of the aircraft I would guess the one choice option would not apply.

Speaking to a hotel manager here in the US their law means that they can mention about refurbishments etc but can't advertise it with fanfares etc until the majority of their rooms have been done, wouldn't it be good if it was the same for airline cabins.

Is the 'Superseat' the one being trialled on new A346's or is this different? Sorry to appear stupid but not heard the expression 'Superseat' on here before.
Thanks,
David.

Of course if one was getting a limo, one would probably be enjoying the real "superseat", the UC Suite.

The new Y seat will be on most 346 by the end of the year so the other 75% will be bennefiting too

I actually like the EWR CH, maybe it's because it's such a boring airport that any kind of colour seems good[8D] Still, a window would be nice[:I]

I rather like the architecture of the terminals. But the EWR CH doesn't have any of the usual amenities as the other CHs do IIRC.

Amenities? Maybe not, Nick, but the food's good, the wine is cold and the people are friendly.

Glad to hear it. I admit I've never actually been in it before, but I'm hoping to someday. However without a gold card or an UC ticket it might be a bit difficult... [:?]
Oh by the way, does anybody know when the EWR clubhouse was built? I'm just interested to know if it was one of the first ones VS set up.

I'd hope it was the second as New York was VS's first place to fly to. (Newark, I just pullin' your leg Nick

Very funny, Ben..

By the way, I found out that the Newark Clubhouse was built in 1996.
Oh, and I'm not sure if anyone's seen this, but the Clubhouse section under "What's On Board" now features a couple nice pictures from every clubhouse.

The EWR clubhouse is the one I've used the most and I really like it.I agree though, you could be in any airline lounge in the world without the windows.
I've liked it when they come round with the food trolley and serve you from your seat. I had the best fruit crumble and custard there once. The food is always excellent[y]

And if you're in a 747 ... when will they be upgraded?

In my opinion, the EWR staff are some of the friendliest and to me, that is more important than extra ammenities.

They use a few 777's and 747's on that route. My eyes might be deceiving be but I saw a 757 once. I know this for a fact. I see quiet a few because I live near JFK and Im in the climb path and glide path of most translantic flights of British Airways and Virgin atlantic.
