E to PE

I'm new to the site, and the forum, and must say it's great!

I'm travelling on business to Miami in July, company wanted me to find the cheapest ticket so I did. It is an N class economy ticket.

My questions are, am I likely to be able to pay for a PE seat on the day and, if so, can anyone give an idea of cost?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there BjornB and welcome to the site.

It sounds like you are already getting into the swing of things of with a question like that - have you checked out the fare codes section - as you will see the N class fare is an "ultra mega saver" - and usually to upgrade to a higher class you need to be holding a standard ticket - however - there are times when deals are offered whilst you are in the check in queue.

As to price - well this will depend - if you need to first upgrade your N ticket to a standard econony then obviously this is going to cost - and then upgrades on the day (if available) would temnd from experinece to be in the region of £200 - £300.

Good luck though with whatever you do.

Make sure you use the Virgin Atlantic ( VS) "manage your booking" section to book a seat and you will see there is a great deal of information about seats here on v-flyer.[y]

Thanks MarkJ, thought that might be the case. Will cross fingers and see what happens.

I did book my seat last week, although there wasn't much choice to be honest. Went for 44K (A-346 config 2 I think) as I wanted a window seat with a view of the US E coast.

Hi Bjorn,

N class tix are rarely upgraded. It may be possible to upgrade to the lowest 'upgradeable' fare.
It is a case of wait and see who you get on the day. some people I recently booked in N were offered a £200 upgrade from E to PE so you never know. I guess it depends on the loads.

Fingers crossed for you!
