Unfortunately I shall be on a plane LHR > PVG and am wondering how we can keep an eye on what's happening in Germany.

Spoke to a girl at VA who said that the Captain may announce the final score. however she did say you can surf the web if you have your own laptop.

Does the LHR > PVG route have WiFi or any other WWW access apart from their good for nothing sms and email system ?

The only internet access available (at present) on any VS aircraft is through the $6/minute modem connector underneath the IFE handset.

Sorry!

Virgin don't have any connexion by boeing or whatever its called which is the abilty to surf the net from your laptop whilst flying so the only way to find out is to use the sms and e-mail system or via the captain.

Either way it won't make much of a difference cause Portugal will win. ;)

I happened to be on-route from NRT to LHR during the last World Cup while England played Brazil.

Messages would appear on your TV screen each time either England or Brazil scored. It didn't affect your viewing - The info was just like the "Crew announcement" message that flashes up when a FA uses the PA.

Once the game was completed the 1st officer gave a confirmation of the score - Much to the disapointment of most onboard at the time.....[n]

England lost 2-1 for the benefit of all the non-football fans here.. ;)

I was on LGW-MCO during the first England Game. The cabin crew announced the first (only) goal and then the captain confirmed the final score on landing. No updates on any screens.
