Virgin + bmi= Happy Scots?

I was talking to the crew on my return leg from Dubai and she was telling me that Virgin seem quite keen to take over bmi and that she would love to see VS in the short-haul market.
I agree with this as being able to check in from EDI/GLA or any other regional airport that bmi operate to, straight through, would be excellent.

Imagine seeing an Airbus A319 landing with the Flying Lady slapped on the front, G-VSML or G-VTNY me thinks! VS might have some trouble naming bmi's 40 something aircraft though!

if and only if this happens, what would happen to BMI miles, would they be converted to FCM? If so - that makes me happy ;-)

Well let's see, this rumor comes up every few months on here, for what it's worth it probably will never happen, but now is as good a time as any I guess, with BD shotting themseleves in the foot at every turn the price shouldn't be to bad.

Im sure VS would love to get their hands on the LHR slots and if the guessing on here is right the A330's would fit into the fleet.

Of course from a FC point of view it will be just like last year when we had all the DL ff's making reward seats about as rare as dodo droppings.

IIRC the A330 and A340 share the same type rating.

I thought it was a different type rating Ben, but only a one day conversion? [:?]

Seperate rating, but the pilot can fly A330/A343/A346. Anyway the Scots could be even happier as they might not even HAVE to travel to LGW for their holiday flights. Perhaps they could fly direct from GLA on a shiney new A330!!!!!!!!!!!!
