Which Aircraft

I wondered if there was knowing exactly what aircraft I'll be flying on for my holiday in July to Miami.
From what I can see already on the site, the aircraft that I'm most likely to be flying on is having a refit June/July and I'm due to fly very early July.
Flight: VS005 LHR to MIA (Miami)
If I do a search the day before I go on holiday, will I see exactly what aircraft is coming back that day from Miami (though that's no guarantee it'll be flying back there again the next day)
Any suggestions anyone?

Hi All, I am wondering how you know which aircraft is on which route. I ask because I will be doing IAD/LHR June 22, VS022,PE, I understand it will be an A-340-300. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I asked some questions in a different "zone" but would like to know about the aircraft I may be flying in.Such items as meals, movies, and I would like to hear from anyone who has done IAD/LHR, there aren't many postings from DC area on these boards.
Thanks for the help and advice.

Hi Neddy
According to availability tool VS22 is showing as been an A346 (A340-600) aircraft on June 22
The current movies showing onboard USA - UK can be found
hereNo idea what meals you will get though - someone who's just flown in PE or economy will be able to answer that though.
You can download the availability tool
here Install it (ignore the german setup pages) and off you go. It does cycle on and offline throughout the day though (ie up for 2 hrs then down for 5 hrs). You can check any flight and even get seat maps on most flights too. You flight details are showing as:
IAD LHR 22/1900 23/0705 VS22 J4 D4 Z4 W4 S7 K4 Y1 B1 L0 M0 Q0 X0 N0 [346]
The letters are fare codes and the numbers tell you if there's any availability in that fare class (J D and Z are Upper, W S and K are PE and the rest are economy. A 4 or a 7 means there are plenty of un-sold tickets in that class. The 346 is the aircraft type (this could change neare the time though)
Regards

Thanks Michja, very helpful, appreciate you taking the time to explain the codes etc.
One more thing, I have read on the forums that sometimes people are bumped "upwards " to UC from PE, I understand that would be a rare occurence, but what would be the reason for that? and there is no possibility of being bumped downwards is there?
As you can tell, we dont fly that often, so the club is not really worth it for us, but we like to be as prepared as we can.
Thanks again, nice to see these "boards or zones, or forums"are populated by such friendly and helpful people.

Hi guys,
Just in case you haven't seen, I put together a list of all the VS fare classes for the site (
http://www.v-flyer.com/codes.asp) - I know mitchja has outlined some already in this thread.
Yes, downgrades do happen. I have seen compensation in miles via a select voucher before (50K I think), and the obvious difference in fare too.
Thanks,
Richard

Hi, I might be being stupid here, but how do you ignore the German downloads, I've clicked on each one and they all come up in German
Thanks

I think James just meant to ignore the installation being in German, just keep clicking "Weiter" (Next), or "Ja" (Yes) during the installation

Cheers

Thanks Michael, wondered if I should have just accepted, but thought I might end up with everything in German and not be able to understand a word of it! By the way I've given all my details to join the Flying Club and quoted your membership number as a personal referral. Unfortunately I won't be able to claim any points for our trip to Orlando this year, as we've bought our tickets via Mates? (think that's correct) which is using staff discount. But hopefully you'll get some points when we book again soon.
Thanks
Shelley

Nah, it all comes up in English once it's started up

Excellent - thanks (and no worries on the flight

) - it was very good of you to post in here offering this too

(Yeah yeah, I know, I'm vying for NN's title of "Points Whore"

)
Cheers
