V-Flyer

I just booked a flight the day after the "Stateside Sale" ended on July 27th - so my flight was 120GBP more than the sale price. I was a little annoyed at myself but had to live with it. NOW, only a few days later, the sale is back on, and the flight I just paid for is now 120GBP cheaper again.

Is there anything I can do/say to get the difference back? My ticket is Q class, if I make a change to say, my departure time, since the price of the flight is lower, will they have to charge me less?

Im sorry to say that you are pretty much stuck,it is one of those things that does happen.

You can make changes to the timing but they won't refund the difference. In the same was as they don't charge you more when comparable fares go up. This has been talked through many times here and the bottom line is fares change. Pay what you're happy to pay.

I know it doesn't take away the sting though .

Did you book it on the Internet? If so the chances of you being able to get a refund are zero. I don't think that you'll get refunded the price gap between the fare you paid and the fare that is lower, because you are changing your booking and some airlines will charge you for changing your booking.

I don't know what Virgin's policy is for booking alterations because I've never booked a flight online for them plus I've never have had to alter my flight times, so all of the above is from reading up other airlines policies and by assuming that this is Virgin's policy.

This thread was the long one instigated by someone in exactly the same boat.

As others have already said - there is no surcharge if the fare goes up after you have booked, but it is still galling.

There is the possibility of cancelling your ticket and then rebooking. However with a fare difference of £120 (unless you have booked the whole family, grand parents, a couple of aunts....), it probably is not worth it. Of course I do not know the rules of the fare you have - it may be totally unchangeable, in which case (as others have said) forget it.

In such circumstances, I find Tai Chi in the garden is the only solution to the frustration.

Hmmm, this has got me wondering actually. I booked a flight in october in an S fare, then the caribbean sale came along. How much would the fee be for cancelling on an S fare, because the price difference is £600 between the 2 prices. Perhaps it may be worth changing.

Book with a tour operator in future we give great deals and cansometimes help in these situations!

Nice plug Monkey;), although more often than not you are not cheaper so its usually not worth it!

For me its a case of c'est la vie, nearly everything gets reduced eventually, cars,dvd's/cd's sometimes you win/sometimes you lose.
