Have been searching for flights for a Vegas vacation.
Approx dates Nov 29th thru Dec 26th.
On the VA website,
LGW-LAS on those dates on a 'lowest fare' UC ticket is £3180, and will earn 10,448 miles.
However,
LHR-LAX on same dates in UC is £2460, and will earn 21,768 miles.
The trip to LAX is considerably cheaper, and earns double the miles. I can understand why it is cheaper, but why the mileage differance ? I thought the mileage differance would have been like 1000 miles.

The milage you should earn for an LAS return in UC is 20896 miles and 21768 for LAX. You are right, I am guessing this is just a mistake on the website, as it only says you will earn half the milage. Unless there is another explaination[:?].

Certianly an error. I tried UC (flex) and got the same data as da' OP.
"Well I am going to book on AA/CO/DL/NW as I earn more miles in Business class.... "
I can see the e-mails.

I'm sure this relates to a long-standing problem on the VS website where LGW-LAS only shows one way mileage earning instead of the round trip total. LGW-LAS should be 5224 flown miles each way, giving a total of 10448 flown miles - of course, you have cabin/FC bonuses on top of this - so, as Sean says, for UC you would be looking at 20896 miles.
This problem has been mentioned on here before,
this thread goes back to October last year...[ii]
Cheers
Michael

When I was booking my PE seats on LGW-LAS the website quoted half the miles as suggested above. I then phoned FC and they confirmed that I would earn the full miles and I booked it through them by telephone. I have recently returned from my hols and was credited full miles so it shouldn't be a problem!
Thanks
