""Some aircraft will not be fitted with the UCS"

I didn't take it as a statement that some planes would not be fitted with UCS at all. If you read the full quote: "For operational reasons we cannot guarantee that aircraft will not change without prior notice. Some aircraft will not be fitted with the UCS." - I think it's just saying "The planes we're planning to run on these routes should have UCS, but we might have to change an aircraft for ops reasons and the replacement might not have UCS" :)

Cheers

Michael

My take on it is that originally the A340-300s were going to leave the fleet, and it wouldn't have made a lot of commercial sense to fit out those aircraft with Suites if their days were numbered. However, my understanding is the proposed route growth is going to require many more aircraft, and the life of the A340-300s within the Virgin fleet could be extended considerably longer than first anticipated. A whispered rumour from within VS a couple of months back is a Suite-config for the A340-300 is under consideration.

Some aircraft may never be fitted with the UCS. Those belonging to BA for instance. ;)

Yep they are saying that some of the planes on those routes do not have UCS fitted to cover themselves if one goes tech or they have to make an operational change. What they dont want is people expecting a UCS aircraft on one of those routes as they cant guarantee one.

Had an email from VS today regarding this after I asked the question.

After reading the email it sounds like VS has had a lot a response to this and the wording of the original statment is going to be modified.

Basically as mentioned earlier VS are just covering themselves until the rest of the fleet is upgraded to UCS and it does not mean there will be aircraft without UCS.
