Can somebody tell me whether it's quicker to check in/drop bags at the UC desk rather than checkin online and fast bag drop ? Thanks for your help.

It usually is quicker just to go to the UC check-in, although you can still check-in online and then drop your bags off at the UC check-in just as long as you are either flying in Upper Class or you are a Gold Flying Club card holder.

Agree with James - and you will also prob need to collect a Clubhouse or lounge invite!!!

I would always use OLCI and the UC Check in to drop your bags off and collect your clubhouse passes. This way you get the best chance of getting the seat you want and the also have the option of using the quickest queue.

At the moment all you have done is a "pre-selection" of your seats, which does not guarantee them, so there is a chance that they could be taken by somebody else. The only way to confirm your seats is though check in (OLCI or normal), so if you are wanting specific seats it is best to do OLCI.

Also doing OLCI will make your check in at the airport quicker and give you more time to spend in the Clubhouse[y]. Its your choice but there is no harm is doing OLCI, as mentioned you can still use the UC check in desks to drop your bags off and pick up your boarding card.

Yes, I suppose that could happen...although we do have two small children with us and at the time of booking it was suggested that we adopt the seats that we've been allocated. OK, OLCI it is then.

OLCI will in all probability (unless there's been an aircraft change) default you to the seats you've been allocated. The advantage of using it is that;

a) it gives you best dibs on the (40% of?) seats that are not made available in the preflight allocation phase and so you *may* find a "better" seat has become available.

b) it confirms the seat for you making it less likely you'll find it gone "for operational reasons" when you pitch up at check in.

In my experience it's not available until exactly 23 hours and 59 minutes before the scheduled departure.

My last flight from LHR, the Bag drop queue was empty (yes, quite bizarre..) and UC check-in was 30 people deep. Having OLCI'd, we went straight to bag-drop.

Why do you mention the need for 'Clubhouse passes'? I don't think I've ever seen one. I just stroll up to the Clubhouse, chat with the girls for a couple of minutes and in I go.

On my overnight flight (VS10) in November the upper deck is not showing any available seats in UC, but plenty on the lower deck. Is this reserved for the sleep zone, and can only be allocated at check in?

Upper deck on the NYC-LON flights are usually reserved as the snooze zone. Give premier a call and they can allocate one for you.

You may actually find that the snooze zone is full. Quite often, for IAD/NYC/BOS flights, it's the first cabin to fill up - as a lot of people now appreciate the benefit of more time to sleep.

Give Premier a call, but my guess would be that the seats are all taken...

Well I just did the OLCI. Not smooth I'm afraid. Firstly it refused to let me 'continue' as it said something was missing in my details. It was highlighting the zip code of my hotel which is non-mandatory and was completed anyway. After several attempts I decided to omit it altogether. That worked! Obviously some faulty logic somewhere. Anyway, after having had my preferred seats for nearly a year, it then suggested a completely different set. However, I was then able to re-select my original seats! Is this normal ?
