flying club points for kids?

Dear all

This is my first post; and I hope somebody might be able to help me with a query.

I have just started flying regularly with VS, on UC, following a job move; and am often accompanied by my 5 year old daughter. As red FC card holders, there seems to be no way to get recognition for my daughter's UC FC points, until such time as we reach gold status on the basis of just my own points.

Or is there somebody on this (fantastic, by the way) forum who can tell me otherwise? I really begrudge giving up the points, especially as I pay for the tickets myself.

Thanks for your help!

A quick scout of the VS website indicates that only adult qualifying fares earn miles under the standard FC scheme.

"Miles and tier points cannot be earned on any free or reduced rate tickets including, without limitation, reward travel and travel agent or industry discounts, Mates and Mates Plus, Vex Courier, Miles Plus Money, child or infant and complimentary tickets"

I can't comment on what the deal is once you get up to Gold. Someone probably can though..:)

Paul

p.s. where are my manners? Welcome to V-Flyer and I look forward to some of your Trip Reports on the UC experience (vicarious enjoyment of same being about as close as I'm ever going to get [n])

The minimum age for joining Flying Club is 12 and unless you have a family Flying Club account, which you need to be Gold for, then there is no way of getting your childs miles/tier points added to yours/anybody else account.

Sorry couldn't give you any better news, but Welcome to V-Flyer btw[y]

Yup, Children can earn miles but only as part of a family account for Fc Au's. The miles get added directly to the main Au card holders account. My sibling has her own FC card but any miles she earns go straight to my account. No such benefits for Silver or Red card holders though, which must be a real pain for the parents of FF children out there. I think Pets that fly regularly with VS get more recognition than children :)

Thanks,
Sarah

One to bear in mind also is that regardless of whether you have a kids account on a gold card of not - only YOUR tier points count towards status.
Miles are transfered to the gold card holder's account, but the tier points vanish. You would not get to gold any quicker even if you had such a facility.

Thank you everybody for your swift replies: very ehlpful. As I thought: will just have to keep saving into I get to gold, and then get a family account!
