Just tipped my flying club miles over 65k so thought I'd have a look at possible ways of spending them.

On the VS site when I try and price up say a LGW-MCO Econony flight it always comes back as a Q class ticket, but this isn't one that can be upgraded with miles to PE.

The flight is currently coming in at £621 in Q so how much price difference would there be to get one in an upgradable ticket class to PE which I use miles on?

Makes sense? Its not urgent as just trying to get a feeling for the price difference in ticket classes.

A L fare is probably your best bet - When are you looking to travel??

Varies - Typically about £100 if I recall for a Q-L. Depends on route.

For MCO though, I'd find a chum and do companion via S. One of the best routes for a PE companion utilistation given the expensive Ec fares.

Andy - I find it easiest to ring FC and get prices for specific fare codes, they will be able to offer you lots of different variations and with the use of the Fare Codes guide from this site (and other VF's vast knowledge of fares) you should be able to ensure you get the cheapest fare possible. Using the website is hard because you can't select a L fare, only lowest or flexible which means certain fares codes are hard to get prices for.

I found this on another forum site, and it has proved very helpful for finding fare prices without ringing around.

To narrow your search down to Virgin, simply enter :: VS+ after the airport codes in the from and to boxes.

To find a specific fare code, follow this by / F BC= then your fare code.

For example, to find the cheapest upgradeable economy fare between LGW and MCO enter:

FROM: LGW :: VS+ / F BC=L
TO: MCO :: VS+ / F BC=L

You can even search multiple destinations by entering creating a list thus: MCO;NYC;LAX etc.

Be sure to enter the sales city as LON so that the price comes up in £s, and there are even other useful features such as a month long search to find the cheapest fares.

I found this very helpful, so hope it's useful to others...sorry if this is a dupe post, but not seen this on here before.
