As I understand it then, the security queue will see pax holding both their cabin baggage AND their 're-sealable'plastic bags for separate screening. Looks like Tesco will have a run on 'freezer bags' then. So if your bag fails to 'reseal' do you forfeit the contents to security?

Can anyone clarify what restrictions, on US flights, will be in place after 06/11 for any 'liquids' purchased airside/dutyfree?

Um apart from Tesco where's the best place to buy a 20 x 20 clear resealable plastic wallet/bag then ? [B)]

Thought I'd cracked it in Staples Clear & resealable Pencil Case at 89P Then found they were 25 x 25 [:#]

It seemed to be working OK in Tampa today on internal flights. Passengers simply put the plastic bag into the tray with other bits and bobs, no problem. Personally I would have welcomed it as I had no access to my usual toiletries in Revivals this morning - especially my usual moisturiser and hair mousse [:(]

While this is, of course, welcome news - why does the press feel the need to report it in such a way to suggest we, the travelling and paying public, are being given some special privilege??? I don't know how others feel, but I'm getting quite tired of restrictions and being told what I can and can't do at any specified time. Yes, there will be plenty of people yelling 'security' at this point, but I don't much like being herded about like some form of low life, prodded and pushed and told to take off my shoes at every turn. I feel as if it's a constant manipulation, and it's not right.

No, before you all leap on me and beat me to a pulp, Iplease let me say that I love travelling and I also love the US, but am rapidly reaching the point where all this cr@p is making it a real displeasure to travel. I can't help but wonder what would happen if (unlikely though it is) enough people felt the same way and stopped flying. Revenue would of course drop for not only the airlines, but also stores at the airports - maybe then, and only then, will they get their act together.....

Cat - I think you have said what a lot of us are thinking. I am all for security, but the way this whole issue has been handled has been very poor and unprofessional imo, the Government hide behind the whole "Security" thing anytime any criticism is said because its something most people will just accept, when if they actually used their brains they whole thing could be managed so much better.

As you rightly say, the majority of pax are getting a very poor deal and are often treated in a very shabby way because BAA and the Dft more specifically than the whole Government are changing their minds every 2 minutes as to what we can/can't do/take, while we just have to accept it[V].

I am not hopeful in the situation improving anytime soon, no doubt the bans will be totally lifted eventually making a mockery of the rules/restrictions of the past few months.

Cat/Neil - I concur wholeheartedly! Whilst I've been lucky in not suffering long security queues on my travels since August you only have to read some of the TR's on here to appreciate the frustration passengers are experiencing. Re the point about DfT, ISTBC but they are the Government, aren't they - or at least the part of the Government responsible for transport - so what comes out of DfT is the official Government stance? From what I've heard, airports around the country - not just BAA's - are fed up with the Government's (DfT's) chopping & changing!
